Fall 2018 - Winter 2019
Two trips to Haiti are being considered. One for Fall 2018, and one for Winter 2019.
Fall 2018
A typical project would be helping to build a school associated with one of our churches on the mainland. For this we would be based at the Ortlip Center. Individual costs for round trip airfare and in-country lodging, food, and transportation would likely be in the $1300 - $1500 range; project cost would be about $8000. Four dates are being considered: Sept. 13-22; Oct. 2-10; Oct. 25-Nov. 3; and Nov. 1-10. The dates may vary by a day or two depending on the needs of the team.
Because airline tickets need to be purchased at least 8 weeks prior to travel, approximately $800 must be in hand by mid-July for the earliest date and by early September for the latest date. Several team meetings prior to departure will be scheduled.
Winter 2019
A project for the dry season is the roof replacement on the duplex apartment at the mission station on La Gonave. This involves removing the current roof to the rafters, repairing/replacing any damaged rafters, putting down new plywood, Styrofoam insulation, and new tin. Project costs is estimated at $10,000; individual budget would likely be $1300 - $1500. The likely time frame for this trip is early February 2019. All fund raising and preparation would need to be completed by November 15, 2018, in order to avoid conflicts with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
