Spatial framework consultation put back one month following local elections

This email is to let you know that we have revised the timetable for the publication of the rewritten spatial framework, and the full plan will now be scheduled for release in July.

A second draft of the plan was set to be published in June 2018, but will now be published later in summer followed by a 12-week public consultation.

We know many of you are eagerly awaiting the consultation period and will be disappointed by the delay. However we need time to reflect on the views expressed at recent elections, and factor in changes to the membership of the Combined Authority.

It is important that the spatial framework plan is the best it can be before we open it up to consultation, and there is still more work to be done to ensure we are able to make the most of the opportunities available to us for town centre and brownfield development.

The Mayor discussed the issue at the Combined Authority meeting today and the spatial framework is a common theme in the Mayor's Question Time events. These meetings are streamed live, but in case you missed them, the links are below.
