AFRINIC UPDATE- Job Vacancies
AFRINIC Board has called for expressions of interest, from persons who wish to be considered for appointments to fill casual vacancies in the Board, in terms of article 13.14 of the AFRINIC Bylaws. Any appointment to these vacant seats will be for a period, until the next regularly scheduled AFRINIC AGMM, in June 2019.
There are currently four casual vacancies in the AFRINIC Board. If you would like to be considered for one of these vacant seats, please complete the form at <

Anyone who expresses interest shall:
- Have at least five (5) years professional experience in an area relevant to AFRINIC activities, such as Internet Resource Management, ICT, policy development, finance, audit or HR management;
- Be available and committed to participate in Board meetings and other AFRINIC activities (face-to-face and online).

GDPR: ICANN Board Approves Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data
The Board of Directors of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) approved the proposed "Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data."
The Board decided to establish temporary requirements for how ICANN and its contracted parties will continue to comply with existing ICANN contractual requirements and with community-developed policies as they relate to WHOIS, while also complying with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
"The ICANN Board's the proposed Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data is an important step towards bringing ICANN and its contracted parties into compliance with GDPR," said Cherine Chalaby, ICANN Board Chair. "While there are elements remaining to be finalized, the adoption of this Temporary Specification sets us on the right path to maintaining WHOIS in the public interest, while complying with GDPR before its 25 May 2018 enforcement deadline."

NiRA Academy Resellers Entrepreneur Program
On Wednesday, 16
th of May 2018, NIRA through its Special Purpose Vehicle, the NIRA Academy, organized its .ng Resellers Entrepreneurship Programme (REP) at NIRA Office Complex, 8 Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere Lagos. The Resellers Programme aimed at developing and training entrepreneurs & aspiring entrepreneurs about the Domain Name Industry. The training also provided an insight into the vast opportunities that exist within the Domain Name Industry. Participants were encouraged to network with professionals within the Domain Name Industry as we had representatives from three NiRA Accredited Registrars at the event.
Mrs. Edith Udeagu, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) encouraged participants to actively participate in the training; highlighting that NiRA creates opportunities for people to become entrepreneurs and employers of labor.

The 2018 NDSF series on Internet Governance for Development (IG4D) and Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable would hold at the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Cappa, Lagos.
The theme for the forum is ‘Internet Governance: Sustaining Development’.

2018 NIGF
This is to inform you that the 2018 Edition of Nigeria Internet Governance Forum (NIGF) holds on the 2nd and 3rd July at Shehu Musa Yaradua Center, Central Business District Abuja.
This year’s forum, with the theme,
“Internet: An enabler for good Governance’’, is focusing on multi-stakeholder dialogue on how the Internet will enable both E- governance and public governance in Nigeria. The outcome is expected to enhance consensus building among stakeholders on Internet Governance framework, address the most critical and evolving issues on Internet Governance and also advance the nation’s position at the regional and global IGF.
The 2018 edition of the NIGF will also feature hands-on experiences on Internet governance for the youths to build capacity in value creation and empowerment that the Internet presents with the theme
“Internet for Opportunities, Value Creation and Empowerment” on the
