Presidential Ponderings

What a productive term this has been! Your MPI D/FW Board of Directors met in May to finalize the strategy for the next term. I want to take a moment to recognize the impact of the collective efforts during this term. With careful management of budget and sponsorships, the chapter experiences have had increased attendance. This term we have seen increased Volunteer Engagement as we engage with all members of our chapter. The engagement can also be seen in the outstanding response to the Global Survey. The efforts have resulted in our chapter ranking as a High Sustaining Chapter through MPI Global. We also had a record number of RISE Award submissions this term. Read more.

Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) Recap

On April 12, 2018 the North Texas area held its first Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) rally at Dallas City Hall with special guest speakers and a happy hour hosted by ALOFT Hotel downtown Dallas, with more than 100 people in attendance. The purpose of GMID is to advocate and raise awareness of the real impact that meetings have on people, businesses and communities. More than 200 events were held across six continents that day. This year’s North Texas GMID included representation from area industry organizations including MPI, PCMA, SPIN, IAEE, NACE, ILEA, SITE, The Hotel Association, and area CVBs including Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth and Irving. Mark your calendars to join us for the 2019 GMID scheduled for April 4, 2019. If interested in joining the planning committee for this special event, please contact Sherry DeLaGarza or Patty Phelps.
