2018 Niagara Falls Summer Trillium Recognition Program Online Nominations Now Open

Niagara Falls, ON, May 24, 2018 – Nominations are now available online for the Niagara Falls Summer Trillium Recognition program, at niagarafalls.ca/trillium. This well-established program encourages residents to beautify their curbside landscaping and to foster city-wide beautification by enhancing properties through decorative hardscapes and plant material.  The deadline to make a nomination is July 1, 2018.

Each property that enters the program will be assessed by the Trillium Sub-Committee on Thursday, July 19th. The assessment consists of a quick overview of 6 essential elements that make up a great landscape:

  • Principles of design
  • Turf
  • Plants
  • Hardscapes
  • Environmental features
  • Unique features

The assessment is conducted by professional landscapers and experienced horticulturalists. Upon completion, property owners can receive professional feedback regarding their property if desired. The program also offers gardening learning tools and essentials to help beginners get started through an online Q&A feature, where residents can ask professionals precise gardening questions.

The program is administered through the Park in the City Committee and delivered by the Trillium Sub-Committee. The Sub-Committee requests that residents register online to enter the program by visiting niagarafalls.ca/trillium to complete a nomination and to learn more about the program.
