Connections Review

The Quarterly ACI Courier
of Academic Connections, International
Issue #21 & #22, Spring & Summer 2018

Welcome to our quarterly briefing. For the best experience, be sure to view this either by means of your browser, using the weblink (upper right) or by downloading the remote content for this edition.

School comes quickly.  It is time to pick up our pen and issue our quarterly edition. As a matter of fact, since Labor Day has not yet come, we have decided to combine our Spring and Summer edition into this one, so you're getting a two for one.  As always, this issue of Connections Review will address topics that are aimed to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.  However, we will do this particular issue a little differently.  We will not feature some of the standard columns like our Court Watch, What's New?, and Café Cook this time.  Instead we will focus on a few other important issues.

Ready, Fire, Aim? - Avoiding a Misfire & Getting Off to a Good Start

It has been said that you can never have too much Greek, you can never have too much silk.  Who could argue with that?  Having the time and forethought for planning the startup or "re-start" of your Christian faculty fellowship/community this fall semester is worth having, too.  A little effort and anticipation now can contribute to smooth sailing in the fall.  What are some essential things to help you do that?

Fall Reading?

(Note: we were not asked to suggest this book, nor have received any remuneration for doing this--not even pats on the head.)

Try Gary Moon's bio on the late Dallas Willard, Becoming Dallas Willard: The Formation of a Philosopher, Teacher, and Christ Follower.  Published By IV Press, 2018, its 289 pages cover three parts of his life: his first 30 years, his time at USC & birthing a movement, and his final thoughts on finishing life well.  Whether you agree with everything Dallas has had to say or not, it describes a life in academe taken seriously, with his eyes on the prize of leaving a legacy.

Fall Going?

If you are in the area, check out attending the annual Evangelical Theological Society and the Evangelical Philosophical Society simultaneous conference on November 13 - 15, 2018 at the Sheraton Hotel in Denver, Colorado.  It's a great place to network with scholars who are doing good work and a chance to find out cutting edge issues in apologetics and theology.  Here are links to information on both:

Cheers!
