Armed Forces Covenant Local Grants Fund Re-open

The fund's priority - Community Integration and Delivery of Local Services will support projects that respond to the local needs of the Armed Forces Community and improve recognition of the Armed Forces Covenant, and that:
• help integrate Armed Forces and civilian communities across the UK, and/or
• deliver valuable local services to the armed forces community

RAF100 Cycle and Walking Trails

100 Voices commemorates 100 years of the RAF and the close association that Lincoln and Lincolnshire has with aviation. Each of the 100 Voices is presented on a “Wing” all of which are placed in 100 different locations spread over 8 different walking and cycling trails around Lincoln and Lincolnshire that have an association with the RAF.

Armed Forces Day 2018

It’s Armed Forces Day on Saturday 30th June, and to celebrate the bravery of these heroes, Toby Carvery is showing their support and gratitude for each of our amazing military personnel.
They’ll be serving a delicious, free carvery meal or breakfast to all military personnel. This offer applies to all members of the British Army, Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, including serving troops, reserves, veterans and cadets

New Mental Health Helpline

Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson has recently pledged to increase funding for Armed Forces mental health services to £220-million over the next decade and launched the new 24/7 Military Mental Health Helpline.
The new number - 0800 323 4444 - is open and ready to take calls and is being backed up by a major internal communications campaign on mental fitness across the services.

Packed Weekend in the East Midlands

Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force (ACF) held their annual athletics competition recently. There were three sections with Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors in both boys and girls athletics. The winners will go on to represent Lincolnshire at the Regional Athletics Competition later in May.

Government Veterans Strategy announced  

Issues including veterans’ homelessness, loneliness, debt problems, and mental health will be tackled by the new strategy which was announced on the 26th April by Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson.

Help shape a £4m Programme...

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust has launched a consultation to help shape a new £4 million programme designed to provide funding for innovative and new ways of working to reduce serious stress in veterans, their carers and families.
The consultation will explore how the programme should be delivered and the types of projects that should be funded. The Trust is keen to hear from anyone with a view, but it is particularly relevant to veterans, charities with an interest in the Armed Forces Community, charities with an interest in mental health or health bodies.

Forces in Mind Trust

The Forces in Mind Trust (FiMT) has awarded £115K to the Officers Association (OA), to identify the transition challenges and barriers that all ranks of Service leavers (aged 50 plus) face when entering civilian employment

Veterans Welfare Service

The Veterans Welfare Service is part of the MoD's Veteran UK support function and provides one to one welfare advice across the UK and Republic of Ireland. It facilitates access to all appropriate services using a caseworker approach that offers professional help and guidance

The Armed Forces Covenant is a voluntary statement of mutual support between a civilian community and its local Armed Forces community. The Covenant outlines the moral obligations between the nation, the Government and the Armed Forces at a local level.
