No end in sight
Sylloge #70
A collection of interesting things curated by Creative Minds
Hey <<First Name>>,

When I started to write this intro, I realised that quite accidentally, this edition of Sylloge is mostly about things ending. Emails, creative projects, one particular group of same-looking humans deeming what is good or not good about the world. Spoiler: it’s not about the thing ending, it’s about how you end it. And with that, let’s begin.

Have a  good weekend!

Emoticons in business: ☺ or ☹ ?
If you run your own thing, you yourself are probably the ‘voice’ of your business in everything from emails to Insta captions to web copy and beyond. Everyone has their own fave emoji set, that’s no biggie. But if your business is bigger, and requires a consistent tone of voice no matter who is tapping the keyboard, have you considered how the brand’s voice would use emojis? This article might prompt a style guide update…

The End of Male Approval in Comedy
Sometimes I feel like online dissection of television content ruins the experience… other times, like this time, it supremely elevates it.

How Things End
What’s the smartest way to wrap up a long-term creative project, or business, or blog, or podcast? Far too late I've realised it is perhaps by building in the end before it begins (like calling it a ‘project’, or planning seasons, or seeing the writing on the wall and having an exit strategy at the ready). A nice reminder to plan ahead, or maybe you too will have to rely on the yet-to-be-invented ‘project ending generator’.

If You Think You Hate Puns, You're Wrong
Next time someone groans at your pun-tastic addition to a conversation, remember - as you have always known - they are the lesser human being.

P.S. Speaking of puns, Copywrong to Copywriter is back in stock.
