News from Rab Noakes and Neon Productions

Hiya all

This is my final post to keep you all up-to-date with all that’s happening in this busy spell before I invite you to re-sign as is my legal obligation under the soon-to-be-introduced GDPR regulations. That’ll be reaching you ASAP. I do hope you will wish to continue receiving these updates beyond May 25th 2018.

I won’t repeat all I posted last time about gig dates but I will mention one that wasn’t there.

On Friday June 22nd I’ll be at Partick Folk Club. It’s run by a long-term pal, Gavin Livingstone with a grand team and it upholds all the best values of Folk Clubs of old. It’s in St Peter’s Hall in Chancellor Street. By coincidence, that’s just around the corner from what was Billy Connollys dad’s house in White Street. That’s where I first met Gerry Rafferty in February 1969. I’m really looking forward to it.

I'm also looking forward to appearing with sculptor David Mach at the Corn Exchange in Cupar, Fife on Sunday 17th. There'll be a Mach installation, art, conversation and music'n'songs. I'm delighted I've been invited by Cupar Arts Festival to appear. It's my home-town and I do like it. I really like David's work too. He's from Methil so growing up in Fife will be among our topics. The direction of my life was largely designed by the juke-boxes in Cupar's cafes, (Stisi's [later Fusaro's], Bonnelli's, Cura's and others), in the early '60s. The record corner in J.A Stewart's played a major part too. I remember Radio Scotland (the Pirate one) doing a roadshow at the Corn Exchange in 1966 with Stuart Henry as host. It served as a Polling Station in the 1970 election. I only dwelt there sporadically after 1963, but my registration remained. That was my first vote (voting age was 21 in those days). The other Fife appearance will be the official launch of my new album at the Lochgelly Centre on Wednesday 29th August. There’ll be a concert with members of the 70/50 in 2017 band, who all made marvellous contributions to the record, playing songs from it. Keep an eye on their site for further info.

Allow me to take this last opportunity to mention our Kickstarter campaign, launched in support of the final stages of completion of the new album, ‘Welcome to Anniversaryville’. It is doing away nicely, approaching its halfway mark, both in terms of timetable and target. I thank everyone who has made a Pledge so far, it's much appreciated. Here’s the link:-

There’ll be a mid-term update on FaceBook later this week with a glimpse of one of the Rewards and a further, final, one next week which’ll contain a wee surprise.
Please take a look at the range of Pledges/Rewards to support what is, even though I say it myself, is a pretty good record. I can say that, not in relation to my work but to the quality of the contributions by the musicians, the singers, the producers, the visual-artists and all others involved.
