Just a quickie!
Hello Microburners!
It's nearly the end of May which means.....Membership sales are about to open...Woohoo!
We hope your delightful digits will be poised above your keyboards ready for 6pm 1st June (UK time) as we can't wait to see you all again!
Find them HERE - microburn.org/microburn-2018
Also don't you love our new stag beetle banner? Nice one Niamh! Spectacular stag beetles are one of our largest beetles. Sadly their numbers are declining across Europe and they are now extinct in some countries. In the southern parts of the UK they are doing much better but they still need our help. In case you have any stag beetle-related questions pop along here Stag Beetle FAQs.
So that was the fun bit and now, sorry...
We Have to Talk GDPR
We are doing everything within our capabilities to align ourselves with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It’s designed to protect your consent when it comes to your data, so we are on board.
We have updated our Cookie Policy and our Privacy Policy, so please check them out here to make sure you are comfortable with how we are using the data we have about you.
Since everyone who has ever come onto our little MicroBurn list on MailChimp has either attended an event before or signed up directly from our website, and that means that you would need to hear about MicroBurn’s details - tickets announcements, the location of the event, critical information about volunteering and other ways the event runs.
We therefore assume you want to be receiving our emails, unless you tell us otherwise. You can do so using the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any of our emails.
If you do opt out, we understand. You may want to join the Facebook Community to make sure you know what is going on in MicroBurn.
If you purchase a Membership for this year’s event, we will need to send you emails to give you details about the event, so you will be automatically opted-in. These are essential to running the event, so if you do opt-out of these, please make sure you are staying in the loop of what you need to do before attending the event in September.
All the platforms we use - MailChimp, TicketTailor, Slack, Google, Facebook etc. – have all taken steps to become GDPR compliant, so we believe your data is being stored safely and can be deleted should you request it. If there are any data breaches, we will report it to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) within 72 hours from the moment the breach has occurred.
If you have any concerns about GDPR and your data, we suggest you contact us on Slack or via team@microburn.org
