Public consultation on the future of the original playground

It's time to vote on the future of the original playground in the southeast corner of Maple Leaf Park.

Join the Griesbach Community League for a special meeting followed by a vote on the issue:

June 11
Major General Greisbach School
304 Griesbach School Road NW
7-8 p.m.

This is the community's opportunity to provide feedback and voice any concerns over plans to remove some of the structures, refurbish the main blue-and-yellow structure and add new elements to make the park safe and fun for everyone who uses it. Possible new elements for consideration include benches, a merry-go-round and disc swings.

Can't make the meeting? Please email feedback to original_playground@griesbachcommunity.com before June 11.

Before you send that email, read more about the project's history, how it will be funded and when work might start on the Griesbach Community League website.

Meet your neighbours at the Griesbach Adult Mix & Mingle

Ever notice how a kid can go to the park and meet five new friends in less than two minutes but the adults who brought the kids just sit there all alone on the bench?

Here's a chance for adults to meet other adults/couples in the Griesbach neighborhood in a safe, fun environment at Paramo Cafe on Wednesday May 30 from 7-9:30 p.m.

Borrowing concepts from the speed dating movement, individuals/couples will rotate from table to table and meet other individuals/couples via a variety of icebreaking questions and fun games.

Seating at Paramo is limited, so tickets must be purchased in advance through Eventbrite. The deadline for ticket purchase is Sunday, May 27. The event will be cancelled (and refunds issued) unless there are a minimum of 10 participants.

We look forward to seeing you there!

The UN and NATO Veterans Group presents:

The 7th annual Show and Shine

Join us at the Kipnes Centre (4470 McCrae Avenue)
Saturday, May 26 from 12-3 p.m.

Check out antique cars and motorcycles and enjoy a BBQ lunch for $8.
All proceeds go to the Kipnes Centre for Veterans.

Summer is here! Be sure to slow down while driving and watch for kids playing outside.

Community cleans up with Trash-Walking Mamas meetup

The Greisbach Community League would like to give a huge thanks to all of the volunteers who have donated time to pick up litter this spring during a Trash-Walking Mamas meet up.

Despite the name, the walks are open to everyone. Kids, dads, single folks and pets have all been spotted at the first three walks in April and May.

The walks, organized by Greisbach resident and Griesbach Mommy Tribe founder Ericka Rau, are a great way to get outside, meet your neighbours and make the community look even better.

Watch for information on future walks on the Griesbach Connect Facebook page and the Mommy Tribe (Griesbach, Edmonton NW). Walks will be ongoing this summer, with the goal of making Griesbach the cleanest community in Edmonton.

Say cheese for sports photos

Pictures for Griesbach baseball and soccer are scheduled for Friday, June 8 in the southwest corner of Maple Leaf Park, just off of Sir Currie Rd.

The photo session starts at 6 p.m. Coaches will contact parents with exact times before picture day.

A team picture and one individual player photo is included for free with registration. Additional photos can be ordered and paid for on the day of photos, using cash or credit card. Players should wear their uniform for photos.

The Griesbach minor sports wrap-up party for all little soccer and baseball players takes place on Wednesday, June 27 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. outside the south parking lot of MGG School.

Get ready for bouncy castles, face paining and snacks for the kids. Additional snacks will be available for purchase.
GRIESBACH OUTGROWN IT SALE

More than 25 families sold their gently used kid and baby items to bargain hunters at the Outgrown It Sale on Saturday, May 5. The community hopes to make this an annual event. Watch for more information about the event next spring.
