Special announcement about the future direction of Gethsemane Christian Academy

We need to let you know about some significant changes that will be impacting our school for the 2018/2019 school year.  After much work, prayer and consideration Gethsemane is having to move in a direction where we will no longer offer our 1st through 5th grade classes, beginning with the 2018/2019 school year. A letter was emailed to every family that contains more information and also an invitation from Bethany Christian School to join their wonderful Christian school family. We have loved every minute and every student that we have been blessed to know and we wish everyone the best on their new adventures!

 

Important Information!
  • The last day of school is Thursday May 24th. 
  • Please don't leave valuables in your car or leave your car running and unlocked during pick up and drop off.

I9 Sports "I Love My School"
GCA won the contest for the most essays about why our students love their school! One student will be picked for the best essay and will be awarded an iPad. The school will also be given a donation of $1000! Way to go Gators!
  • The last day of school and End of the Year party will be on May 24th. 
    • Pre-K will be at 10:15 am in the Commons
    • Preschool Yellow at 10:30 am in their classroom
    • Preschool Red at 10:00 am in their classroom
    • Early Preschool Orange will be on May 23rd at 11:00 am in their classroom

Last Day of School!
The last day of school is May 24th. 
Summer Day Care!
We will be open for Daycare May 25th and May 29th-June 1st before Summer Camp starts. You can sign up in the school office or by emailing Miss Caitlin. Daycare is by reservation only if you do not sign up for daycare but bring your child they might not be allowed to stay as we have to staff for students according to state guidelines.The cost of daycare is $20 for a half day or $40 for a whole day.
No Lunch during Summer Camp!
No hot lunch is available during summer camp. Each student needs to pack a morning snack and anyone staying for lunch should bring a cold lunch with them that they can eat at school. You can sign your child up for pizza on Fridays. 
Summer Camp Starts June 4th
Summer Camp 2018's theme is STEAM! Campers will be exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and math in different and exciting ways each week. Summer camp is open for Preschool through 5th grade students. 
Summer Piano Lessons
 
Summer Piano Lessons! Mrs. Schrank, GC's choir director, is offering six summer piano lessons with a Disney & Movie Theme on Thursdays June 13, 20, 27 and July 11, 18, 25 in the afternoons (the 3-3:30pm slot is already filled). Recycle your old Markers!
 
Crayola and schools across North America are banding together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. That's why they launched Crayola Colorcycle. Through this initiative, students in K-12 schools across the continental United States and parts of Canada can collect and repurpose used crayola markers. You can drop off your markers in the school office to be recycled.

2018-2019 School Calendar
Half Day Kindergarten

We are thrilled to announce the addition of half day kindergarten to our school!  Students should be five years old by September 1st of the school year.  Full Day and Half Day students will be taught academic curriculum per state standards and Lutheran Schools curriculum.  Our reading and math programs are both researched based.  For additional information, please contact the school office.
GC Kids Summer Musical
Mark your calendars for this year's GC Kids Summer Musical, "O Chicken of Little Faith." The musical is open to all kids ages kindergarten - 5th grade. 

Rehearsals will take place during our regularly scheduled children's ministry program at 10am on Sundays, June 3rd through July 29th. There will also be a few roles for middle school students by audition. To register your child, email cschmidt@gctempe.org. 

We are looking to fill several speaking parts. If you have an incoming 3rd thru 8th grader that is interested in a speaking part, please email Scarlet at sjohnson@gctempe.org 

Participation in the musical is FREE (there may be a small costume fee) and is open to all interested kids. * You do not need to attend Gethsemane Church or School to participate.
It is sure to be a fun and memorable event!
GC Kids VBS
All kids 3yrs old (and potty trained) - entering 5th grade are invited to join us for our FREE VBS. June 4-8th 9:00 - 11:30am. Kids will have a blast learning to "Live Fully Alive" with Jesus! Register today at gctempe.org! Questions? Email Cristy Schmidt at cschmidt@gctempe.org.
Enrollment Packets 
 Preschool re-enrollment packets have been sent home with each child and are available in the school office. If you child will be entering Kindergarten they will need to fill out a new Kindergarten enrollment packet. Turn your packets in as soon as possible; classes are filling up fast!

Moms Group

Join us for our Bible study for moms with kids of all ages to help you go from surviving to thriving. This group will meet once a month at 10am or 7 pm. Upcoming dates include June 6th. Contact Cristy Schmidt to reserve childcare
