MEET THE SPEAKERS

Erick Yong | CEO, GreenTec Capital Partners

Erick Yong is co-founder and CEO of GreenTec Capital Partners which invests in African start-ups and SMEs with a focus on combining social and environmental impact with financial success. Green Tec operates out of Berlin, Germany with regional offices in Ethiopia and South Africa.

Erick has Cameroonian roots, although he was born in Bonn, Germany and attended university in France. He became an entrepreneur and strategic consultant immediately after his studies, where he further developed his strategic thinking skills and comprehensive track record of launching and scaling up new business concepts.

Danai Musandu | SA Goodwell Investments

Danai is a member of the South Africa Goodwell Investments team, where she is in charge of development of the investment process. She holds a BCom in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and a postgraduate Honours Degree in Economics.  

Danai's previous involvement in UCT Upstarts and the UCT Entrepreneurs Society has fed her passion and interest in entrepreneurship and innovation in Africa. Danai and her team are currently working on a research project about the future of inclusive digital economy in Africa, having mapped and researched 2000 start-ups and scale-ups in Africa.

Martijn Blom | Founder, De Investeerdersclub

Martijn Blom is social entrepreneur and informal investor.
He is the Co-founder of De Investeerdersclub in the Netherlands, and is a co-author of the ‘handboek informal investment’ (in Dutch) that was released in 2012.

Together with his business partner, Martijn participates in several successful social impact ventures. Most striking being Nazava Waterfilters in Indonesia, serving bottom of the pyramid, growing at fast rate and recently being awarded a prestigious Tech Award in Silicon Valley. He is currently advising on the setup of a Social Impact Fund and indirectly involved with the introduction of Ashoka to the Netherlands.

David van Dijk | Director General, ABAN

David van Dijk is a co-founder and Director General of ABAN. He is also Managing Director of Stichting IGNITE (a non-profit supporting entrepreneurs in conflict affected countries) and is part of the Investment Committee of the IGNITE Fund.

David is a member of the EBAN Impact Investment Committee and also manages the mentorship program of VC4Africa, the largest online community of entrepreneurs and investors dedicated to building game changing companies on the continent. He holds degrees from the University of Oregon, Nijenrode, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam & Clingendael, and Netherlands Institute of International Relations.
