Librarians Aboard
the Spaceship!!

The Birmingham Public Library joins us on our mission to restore trust in media
Spaceship is excited to announce a new partnership with the Birmingham Public Library. The library’s research staff is helping meet the needs of the participants in The Many: A Conversation Across Divides by producing FactStacks. These are compilations of carefully researched and sourced information to help inform the discussions taking place in the group. We hope it will be the first of many such partnerships with libraries across the country. You can visit our Instagram and Twitter for future examples of what we’re reporting on and give us a follow while you’re there.

Discussing Guns Across Divides

Here is a video produced by TIME and Advance Local about the face-to-face convening that took place in Washington D.C. ahead of the online group forming.

In March and April, Spaceship Media worked with TIME, Essential Partners, the Newseum and Advance Local on a dialogue journalism project about guns. Here are a few of the stories that came out of Guns: An American Conversation.

Knight Awards Spaceship a Grant

We are pleased to announce that we have received new support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for The Many: A Conversation Across Divides. The funding aims to advance trust in local news, by helping to connect diverse groups. It will allow us to partner with additional newsrooms on this national conversation across political lines, identify best practices and create a toolkit for newsrooms to easily implement techniques to engage communities across differences. We are grateful for this generous support of The Many.

Podcasting Again!

Spaceship's The Many returned to Pantsuit Politics's podcast in May to promote the conversation with the help of two participants: Lauren from the left and Tiffany from the right talked about their experience in the group so far. You can listen to the podcast here.

The Many, Face-to-Face

Two Alabama-based participants in The Many, Ashley (left) and Lauren (right), enjoyed a nice offline dinner together. You can read about their experience here. If you are interested in being a part of The Many, Spaceship’s national conversation for women of all political backgrounds and views, fill out this form.

The Spaceship Team Meets Offline Too!

The ladies in the Many aren’t the first to meet offline! In May, co-founders Eve Pearlman and Jeremy Hay met moderator/reporters Alyxaundria Sanford and Kristine Villanueva for a bite to eat in the Big Apple. Meanwhile, in Louisiana, project manager Adriana García and moderator Trey Poché got a chance to meet up in the Big Easy.
