Three Podiums and a Hard Charger Award for JCR Motorsports in Canada

(Milwaukee, WI: May, 21st, 2018) - It was a down and up Saturday for JCR Motorsports as both Jeff Courtney in the #99 X-Analytics/Kenda/RecStuff.com and Fred Roberts in the #89 Enercare/Amana/Woseley struggled in a rainy qualifying session to set the grid for Saturday’s Race 1.

The two Maserati GT4 drivers would start deep in the pack on rows 8 and 9, but a wet to dry race would work well for the car as the two were able to charge through the field.  Roberts would move up an incredible 11 positions to finish 2nd in class, 8th overall, in front of his home crowd. “It's been a long time coming, and to have a double podium weekend at your home track in front of family and friends is very special. The energy and enthusiasm my team demonstrated this weekend contributed greatly to this success,”  said Canadian Roberts, who also set the GTSA fastest race lap giving him pole position for Sunday’s Race 2.  Courtney improved 5 positions to finish 5th in class and would run the third fastest lap of the race to start from 3rd on the grid for Race 2. “I made a big mistake being too aggressive early in qualifying in the rain and backed the car into the wall.  I wasn’t sure that we could get the car repaired in time for the race, but the JCR crew did an unbelievable job getting the car repaired and race ready.” said the driver of the #99, Jeff Courtney.

Race 2 was early Sunday morning. From the time green flag flew, it was clear the JCR Maseratis were going to contend for the win.  Courtney was able to quickly leap ahead and take the class lead, controlling the race until just under 10 minutes remained when the #12 Ginetta of Drew Staveley was able to sneak by both the #89 and #99 JCR machines to grab first place and the win.  Courtney and Roberts would go on to take the final two steps of the podium finishing a strong 2nd and 3rd in class, 8th and 9th overall. “Again the JCR crew did a great job giving me an even better car on Sunday and I was fortunate to get a nice jump early in the race and run some clean laps.  I knew my teammate Fred was close behind and he was very fast all weekend so the plan was to keep running a good pace without burning the car down knowing he would make a strong charge at the end.  That plan changed with a full course caution with about 10 minutes left in the race. On the restart, I was really struggling to get the front tires to hook up and although Fred and I would have a great battle on the last two laps we were unable to hold off  Drew for the win.” said Courtney.
