David Zanders
New Haven Works Member and Yale University Employee
David Zanders, a long time custodian at a local church, came to the New Haven Works program with the hopes of securing a stable, good paying job with benefits. He tried to acquire jobs previously on his own and was not having a lot of success. David began to feel discouraged by his lack of progress in his job search. With the help of his job coach, he was able to better navigate the application process and market his skills to employers. Having an Associate's Degree in AC, Heating, and Refrigeration, David was screened and participated in the Construction Pipeline program which helped him to ultimately acquire his OSHA10 certificate.
Simultaneously, because of his experience as a custodian for almost 8 years with the local church, David was an excellent candidate for a custodial position at Yale University. He is now an employee with benefits at the University.
