Thanks for Helping
Our Moms in May

The moms of HDGHA, along with the mothers from the SUCCESS Project program, had a wonderful Mother's Day dinner in May thanks to YOUR generosity!  They were treated to a delicious meal at Golden Corral on May 9 and everyone had a great time!
In addition, the collection of personal hygiene items was much appreciated and really made their day.  On behalf of our mothers, THANK YOU!

Now Collecting:
School Supplies

HDGHA is now collecting donations of school supplies to share with our resident students and other community families in need. Drop off items to 101 Stansbury Court Mon-Thurs from 9am-4pm.  Thanks in advance for your generosity!

A Great Start to Summer

We had a great kickoff to the season of downtime at Summer Jam on June 16th.  Lots of fun was had, lots of important info was shared, lots of memories were made. Were you there?  Check out our Facebook album  to see all the pics and feel free to tag yourself!

The longer days and gorgeous weather offer lots of opportunities to relax and enjoy time with family and friends...like a perfect girls night out at our next big event, the all new Designer Bag Bingo coming August 17th.  Good deals, good cause, and you could get a good start on your holiday shopping, too.  More info and tickets here--just $25 in advance and $30 at the door!

Wanted:  Info on Kids Programs

When school is out for the summer, kids from low-income families are often without a schedule, social activities, and regular meals. HDGHA helps by serving as a host site for the Harford County Public Schools "Summer Table"  program, which provides FREE lunches to those 18 and younger along with the chance to meet and make new friends.

But with many parents struggling to make ends meet, we are looking to share info about no cost or low cost activities for kids, too.  So far, we have let our clients know about the wonderful benefits of being a Harford County Public Library card holder-- such as the perks of participating in the Summer Reading Challenge with free passes to museums; low or no-cost events at the Anita C. Leight Estuary Center and Eden Mill Nature Center, and shared info about the many parks, playgrounds and trails open to the public with no entry fee listed on the VisitHarford.com website.  Does your company sponsor field trips or other activities? If you know about or can help provide something else free and fun for kids or families to do this summer, share with us!  Email info@hdgha.org with all the details.

Recognition for Hardworking Volunteers

The Maryland Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies (MAHRA) has an awards program to recognize volunteer commissioners and affordable housing residents.  The MAHRA Awards Committee chose this year's winners from nominees all over Maryland and honored them at the annual Spring MAHRA Conference  in May.

Congrats to Roy Mitchell (top, left) who was chosen as the MAHRA Commissioner of the Year in recognition of his contributions to our Board; and to resident Martinea Trippett-Felton (bottom, right) who was chosen as the MAHRA Resident of Year in recognition of her commitment to improving her community and lives of her fellow residents.

Hope Coach Deadline Extended

Your neighbors need you!  Can you volunteer as a Hope Coach?  You will serve as a personal cheerleader and community guide for a Families of Hope nominee by encouraging the individual to keep working towards their goals; and by connecting them with local resources to help them realize that dream. Training is required and an application must be completed.  Are you ready to change someone's life?  Sign up as a Hope Coach today!
