Come celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of the “Reading Takes You Everywhere”  Summer Reading Program. Kids can make crafts and get glitter tattoos and balloon animals while adults sign-up the whole family for summer reading! This summer we have programs for all ages: youth, teens, and adults. And you don't have to wait until June 20 to register. You can sign up anytime you are in the library starting June 1.
Living With Wildlife
Wed, June 13 | 7 pm
Adults. Registration required.
Sometimes it's tough to share your garden, your home and your landscape with the abundant wildlife that also call Northern Virginia home. This program will explore the many human-wildlife conflicts that we encounter and help you to understand more about avoiding illegal, unnecessary and dangerous control tactics. Covers Virginia laws about wildlife management tactics that will enable you to either attract wildlife or repel unwanted vertebrate creatures from our gardens. Presented by master gardeners from the Virginia Cooperative Extension. To register for this program, please stop by the library’s Reference Desk or call 703-248-5035 (TTY 711).
On Saturday, June 16, at 3 pm, the Mary Riley Styles Public Library will host a free public screening of the recently released documentary, Josiah: The Story That Sparked the Civil War. Narrated by actor Danny Glover and directed by Jared A. Broch, Josiah explores the life and impact of Josiah Henson, who inspired the main character in Harriet Beecher Stowe's controversial 1852 novel Uncle Tom's Cabin.

Space for the 40 minute screening is limited, so please reserve a spot by contacting the library's Reference Desk at 703-248-5035 (TTY 711).
