Jenny joined the Essendon Camera Club early in 1993, with her girlfriend Sue Jackson. She fitted well into the club and was soon actively involved in its activities. She became secretary in 1997 and held that position till 2002. In 2003, she was elected as president. She held this position, initially for five years.  She resumed as president in 2009, and served another three years. She was also print and slide secretary for several years, which is an onerous job.  Jenny is a keen photographer and she was soon promoted from B-grade to A-grade photographer in the club. 

Jenny was at the forefront of organizing the yearly Melbourne Cup Weekend get-away. A number of members of the club would go away for the Cup “long-weekend”, e.g. to Echuca, Halls Gap, and so on. The idea was to enjoy the company of other club members, dress-up for a Cup sweep, and take some photographs. In recognition of her long and extensive service with the club, she was made a life member.

In 2006, she became treasurer of VAPS, and held that position for 12 years. She brought out her monthly treasurer’s report, which was clear and detailed, for all those years.  In VAPS, Jenny has attended the Convention each year, where she helped behind the counter, and was on hand to assist as required.  At committee meetings, Jenny also prepares the lunches. This is something she also does at VAPS judging events.

She is friendly, frank and full of common sense.  Not afraid to speak her mind, she a positive, lively, honest and forthright personality on the committee.  Thankfully, she is going to remain in a non-executive role, without the onerous duties of Treasurer. Her contribution to photography in general in the past 25 years has been enormous, and she is worthy of heartfelt thanks. 

She has already received the State Service Award and the Meritorious Award so in 2018, to mark her retirement as VAPS Treasurer, the VAPS committee wishes to confer on her a special medal of service in thanks for her extensive and exceptional service to photography. 

Alan Cole is a founding member of Yea Camera club and one of the people who form the backbone of the club.  He helped establish some of the basic structures for both the senior and junior camera clubs.  He has a passion for photography and encourages that in the membership through his many presentations on different topics. The club is frequently asked to photograph local events and Alan is often the Go-To man because of his keenness to participate.  He is enthusiastic as a photographer and because of his eagerness, he continually improve his skills.

He was Vice President from 2008 – 9 and Secretary from 2009 – 12.  In 2011, he established and taught the curriculum for Yea Junior Camera Club.  In 2013, he made a presentation to the senior club monthly meeting on sports photography.  He mentors members on how to photograph the Yea Tigers netball and football, the images being printed in the local paper.  From 2011 onwards, he made a presentation series on “Back to Basics’ and ‘Know Your Camera’.  Other presentations include ‘Stress Test Your Lens,’ in 2014, ‘Lightbox Use and Construction’ and ‘Flash photography’ in 2015.

He has entered many local competitions and performed consistently well so his skills are acknowledged by these ongoing successes in the competitions. He has won at Whittlesea and Berwick, been a section winner at the Yea Annual Show and scored well in the 2017 interclub.  He is repeatedly asked to take photos for politicians and local businesses.

Since the inception of the club, Alan has presented the Projected Image section of the club’s monthly meetings. He devised, and consistently revises, the I.T. Program for data entry of the exhibitions into the Annual Competition. He represents the club as a judge for Alexandra Camera Club and co-ordinates the judging of our competition on judging day. He has organised photo outings into the city.

Alan Cole continues to play a significant role in Yea Camera club so the club justifiably wishes to thank him for his substantial contribution. VAPS has no hesitation in presenting him the Meritorious Service Award.

Portrait Group Master Classes at The Melbourne Camera Club
 
10 photographers, 2 professional models, make-up artists and 3 hours of photography in The Melbourne Camera Club studios. If you are into portrait shooting then this is for you.

With a maximum of 5 shooters per group you will not only get plenty of shooting time but plenty of help from our experienced instructors in all aspects of portrait photography (or we can stay out of your way if you prefer).

Our models will wear a variety of outfits, and there will be ample opportunity to learn some new lighting set ups.

Suitable for experienced and novice portrait shooters.

Cost is $90 for Melbourne Camera Club members, and $130 for non-members.

Numbers are restricted so you must book in advance.
