Men's health week has been with us since 2002 when
the Vienna Men's Health Declaration called for:
Recognizing men's health is a critical issue and that there are health issues which only affect men
Promoting awareness of men's approach to health
Changing the way health care is provided to be more sensitive towards men's needs
Creating school and community programs which target boys and young men
Connecting health and social policies to better pursue men's health goals
menshealthweek.org.au compiles a list of Men's Health Week events around Australia. Register your event and track events here. We are also tracking WA events at menshealthwa.org.au/events.
When we understand the real costs (financial, productivity and human misery) of men's failure to care for themselves we realise that this is one of the most pressing issues of the day.
Keynote speaker Glenn Mitchell, a sports commentator for the ABC, has through his period of 2 decades as a broadcaster suffered with a mental illness. Glenn will talk about the value of “Effectively Engaging with Men”, a resource recently launched by ConnectGroups which has already received over 25,000 downloads.
"Effectively Engaging with Men" is a valuable resource developed by Connect Groups WA. It recognises the challenges facing men are often the very thing preventing them from seeking help.
