Welcome Kermit Heartsong!
Our election process was lively and interesting, with THREE excellent candidates for Vice President.
Congratulations to Kermit Heartsong, who has some great ideas for helping our club sail on! Kermit E. Heartsong is an author, a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle (online edition, former), a publisher for Tayen Lane Publishing (100+ books published, former), an entrepreneur, and an award-winning game designer. Kermit has written three non-fiction books (Ukraine: ZBIG's Grand Chessboard & How the West Was Checkmated; Illusions, Dystopia & Monsters; The United States of Mammon), produced over fifty language-based games and toys, as the founder/CEO of Word Origin, Inc., and, personally, developed two, award-winning games—Articulation and Articulation Jr/Sr—that won consecutive ‘Game of the Year Awards.’ Further, Kermit has worked as a screenwriter, developmental editor, writing coach, graphic designer, and publishing consultant. Kermit is currently the Managing Director at WSDG Design.

Do you know about NorCal?
Our coalition of CWC branches in Northern Calfornia
The Northern California regional group for the CWC is on a tear to increase its visibility among the branches of the state organization. They want you all to know their raison d’etre, which is to provide an informal place for branch members to talk about their needs, wants, events, obstacles and triumphs.
There is no other place for the 15 branches of the Northern California region to learn and profit from each other’s experiences. The state-wide organization of the California Writers Club is more focused on the formal aspects of maintaining a non-profit business. So the NorCal group is it for communication among the branches. Its attractive website can be found at http://cwcnorcalwriters.org
The calendar on the Norcal website is particularly important since it lists all the major events of the 15 chapters, allowing CWC members to know about and attend events at nearby chapters. The calendar has fallen into some disuse recently, but a major effort now is being made to upgrade its listings, with a new push to get good information from the various program chairs.
At the May 5 NorCal meeting, Board officers were elected for the coming term. They are: Secretary: Evelyn LaTorre; Treasurer: Dave LaRoche; Co-Chairs: Carole Bumpus and Kymberlie Ingalls. Carole, having already completed three years as Chair, has agreed to serve again with a co-chair, hopefully to pass on the baton to Kymberlie.
