PREZ'S PIECE

Welcome to our first TIGER TALES for the 2018 season.

With the bye upon us this weekend we have taken the opportunity of a little down time to put together this issue.

Firstly I would like to WELCOME BACK all our previous players and families and a big welcome to the many new families to the club.

We have welcomed over 80 new families to the club for the 2018 Auskick and Home and Away season.

The season so far has been a challenge with many changes going on at Association level and unfortunately some really awkward numbers in Youth Football across not only ours but many other clubs.  We have however again this year managed to be one of the only clubs in the competition to field teams in every age group.

Our youth teams are enjoying mixed success to start the season and we hope they can all continue to enjoy their football and can push towards finals spots come the end of this season.
The junior team numbers are excellent and a big thank you to all our coaches and managers for their awesome efforts so far.  The feedback we are receiving from our Junior teams is terrific and I take this opportunity to also thank all our parents for their support of the positive game day environment and their help on game day in all the roles required to get the kids out on the park and to support the club in these endeavours.  Please make sure we are all supporting our kids by getting behind your team managers and coaches and providing them will all the assistance they need to ensure our kids are able to take the field with their mates and enjoy their football.

For those involved in Auskick, you will all have seen the New Auskick programme we are trialling on behalf of the AFL.  We hope you are all enjoying the new programme and have noted so far the feedback has been very positive.  The parent help during our Auskick sessions has been fantastic and I encourage you all to continue to be involved and enjoy the journey with your kids, our littlest Tigers and future of the club.

The canteen is enjoying wonderful results for the club and we encourage and thank all parents to keep up the terrific assistance provided to Donna in the canteen on game day.  Keep an eye out for Donna Friday night meals and enjoy a seat inside out of the cold at the new Kala Café.

I will also take this opportunity to thank our many sponsors (see our sponsors page on the website and further along in this edition) and welcome on board this year, Dominos Kalamunda who have donated the funds for us to upgrade our Goal Post pads.  At our next round of games you will see the new pads along with our NEW game day footballs, sporting the Dominos Logo and telephone number.  We encourage you all to support all our wonderful sponsors and thank then all for their assistance in allowing the club to continue to support our Families.

I would also like to thank all the Committee members and volunteers, who assist with all the day to day running of the club and for giving up many hours of their own time to a get involved and help us all share the enjoyment of watching our kids spend time with their friends and play our wonderful game.  Welcome on Board this year to new members of the committee, Brad Booth (Junior Vice President),  Renee Lance (Secretary), Danielle Farthing (Treasurer), Greg Sexton (Sponsorship), Kellie Fowler (Managers Coordinator) and Michael Guilders (Auskick Coordinator).  We are also looking for further members to join the team to assist with other important roles. (see further pages for roles that we need to assistance with).

A Big thank you to Bernie Mouritz, a parent from our year 9 group who generously gave up his time and equipment to set up our line marking for the start of the season and Sue Steele (also from our year 9 parent Group) who assisted Renee with the First Aid kits and First Aid training courses held recently.

We should also thank the City of Kalamunda for all their assistance again this season.  The councillors and staff at the City are a great support to the club and are always willing to assist and work with the club to achieve our goals.

Another thank you also to all those who donated for and supported our Mother’s Day raffle.  Please keep your eye out over the coming weeks for further fund raising efforts and details of further donations from other generous members of the club.

Check out the club calendar for upcoming events, including, the Swans Auskick GALA day,  West Coast v GWS Auskick Grid Games at Optus Stadium, Grandparents day, Swan Districts Junior Parade Day and many other events.

To finish off a huge Congratulations to once again Denver  Grainger–Barras ( Year 11) and Emma Nanut (Club Girls Life Player and currently with Swan Districts) for their recent selection in WA State representative teams.  Keep an eye on their progress and we wish both Denver and Emma every success.

I look forward to see everyone back on the park next week.
