New Library Building Update: We are happy to say that we have received more grant funding for out building project. The Richard A. Mansfield and A. Erlene Mansfield Trust have donated $8,540.55 to support our new library goal. We also have an anonymous donor who has committed $20,000 to the project in 2019 if we raise the full funds in August.
We appreciate the support of our donors and how they value our goal of providing a new building to improve services to our residents!
Even with the additional grants received, we do NOT have full funding yet. So once again, we are sharing the ballot language for the library's construction millage that will be on the August 7 ballot. The facts are: if it passes a new library will be built; if it fails the library will have to return the grant money donated to the project and a new library will not be built. The millage language reads:
LIBRARY MILLAGE PROPOSAL
Shall the tax limitation on all taxable property within Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan, be increased and the Township be authorized to levy a new additional millage in an amount not to exceed 1.0 mill ($1.00 on each $1,000 of taxable value) for ten (10) years, 2018 to 2027 inclusive, to provide funds for all library purposes authorized by law, including operating and constructing a library building for the Rauchholz Memorial Library? If the millage is approved, the estimate of the revenue the Township will collect in 2018, the first year of the levy, is approximately $150,000. By law, the funds from the millage will be disbursed to the Rauchholz Memorial Library.
