Having been involved with the Alumni Association as President since our inception (except for one, two-year term) back in the mid 80's, it is with a heavy heart that I must notify the members of the FHSAA that the Governing Board of the Fairfield High School Alumni Association voted unanimously to suspend operations of the Association due to a lack of interest from fellow alumni.
What is needed at this time is some younger members to step forward and assume leadership roles. As President and one of the founding persons, it is time to pass the torch.
Effective, October 31st, 2018 the Fairfield High School Alumni Association will officially cease to operate.
The board is willing to work with anyone who would be willing to step forward and assume a leadership position and continue work of the FHSAA. Officers include President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Committee Chairpersons include Communication, Fundraising, Membership and Scholarship.
Our final FHSAA All-Alumni Social, scheduled every year during Homecoming weekend and attended by many, will be held on October 5, 2018 at the FOP Lodge located in Joyce Park.
All remaining funds will be placed into the Fairfield High School Alumni Association account held by the Fairfield Community Foundation. When yearly earned income on this account exceeds $1,000, an annual scholarship(s) will be given in the name of the FHS Alumni Association.
Besides distributing well over $100,000 in scholarships to deserving seniors, we have accumulated close to $50,000 in the Fairfield Community Foundation. Additionally, we have supported Fairfield School programs and organizations during the course of our existence through monetary donations.
In closing, I want to acknowledge our current Board and the founding persons of the Fairfield High School Alumni Association which had its beginnings in the mid 80's, for their time and dedication during our 30-plus years of giving back to our Alma Mater. Additionally, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the many other Alumni who served as Officers, Board Members, and as well as those who supported us through their donations.
