After five months of summer we are finally breathing a sigh of relief as the international travellers stop coming and Easter saw the end of our local families coming in. Cyclone Gita created havoc on the Takaka Hill so we had the overflow and saw Bethany Park hit record numbers this year.

We are now welcoming our ‘Winter-Over’ community. Folks living in their big rigs and beautiful caravans come to Bethany for up to 10 months. We have a wonderful group of adventurers and travellers who have chosen a life which includes visiting some of New Zealand’s most beautiful regions, and meeting people from all over the country. We welcome inquiries regarding availability and costs for winter-overing here, Bethany Park is beautiful in winter!

“My husband and I recently had 8 nights stay at your holiday park. We thought it was absolutely wonderful. Our site was perfect and the facilities were amazing. Loved showering while listening to the Magic station (my favourite). We will be back – thank you.”

2019 summer bookings…IMPORTANT

Sue and Rebecca are finalising the enormous task of processing summer requests and putting the Summer 2019 ‘jigsaw puzzle’ together as best we can with more families than sites and cabins! We have a waiting list which grows by the day, and if you do not already have your request in, it is possible you may miss out on a preferred site and/or date, even if you have been coming for a number of years. Requests via email are still our best method for the high season summer bookings. We want to continue to provide a personal touch to this process as long as we can.

Bethany Park has been discovered… As happens when people discover a ‘special place’, more people want to come, this has now happened at Bethany Park. We ask for your patience and understanding as we finalise the booking requests. Our goal is to have invoices sent out in July. As of 2019 our booking policy will require you to put your request in on departure, or via email by the end of February.

Camp fees from
1st December 2018

We will be increasing our site and accommodation fees from 1stDecember 2018 and want to give you a heads up before you receive your email invoice if you are returning over summer. We have consistently been below the national average, and are not attempting to catch up, but rather keep pace with our costs while remaining affordable to New Zealand families. Basic fees will be as follows:

Non-powered site:
$34.00/night for two people; $17.00 extra adult; $8.00 extra child

Powered site:
$40.00/night for two people; $20.00 extra adult; $8.00 extra child

Basic cabins: from $60.00 - $70.00/night

Ensuite cabins: from $80.00 - $90.00/night

Top House: from $140.00/night

Park House: from $145.00/night

Camp Two development updates

We continue to develop Bethany Park as it is a legacy gifted to us and we take this responsibility seriously. For those of you who have been coming for many years, we very much appreciate your feedback and encouragement as you notice and comment on the changes each year.

A note to those who had to endure stony powered sites, again our apologies. We have laid down soil and replanted the sites, so although the grass may not be full and lush by December, it will not be stony.

We have finished the outdoor BBQ with a semi-built-in verandah, which our Winter-over community especially love as it provides a sheltered and sunny area for their get-togethers.

We have plans approved for our new office and hope building will begin after Easter next year.

After the 24-hour rain deluge we had on Friday 12th January, we have moved our boat park off prime ground, down to the flood zone (boats float, tents don’t) and have developed some beautiful ‘high-rise’ sites close to the new toilet/shower block extending our Bus Park.

Cyclone Gita hits Bethany Park

On Friday, February 13thCyclone Gita did find land-fall here, in particular between Riwaka and Marahau, including this side of the Takaka Hill. At 4pm we looked out the office window to see the stream which runs alongside the drive tipping its banks, within ten minutes it was up to the car doors in the staff carpark, another ten minutes it was flowing across the ‘Village Green’ into four of our cabins, and swirling around the office! Our wonderful long-term cleaning managers, Esra and John show the height of the ‘stream’. In spring we farewell them as they head off for their own adventures throughout New Zealand as they become ‘winter-overers’ in other places, we will most certainly miss them.
