A lot has been happening at Far Hill Flowers

Open day, workshops, RHS shows, weddings.......so much happening
It has been a very busy Spring here in spite of the long, cold winter and more snow than any flower farmer could want.  We started with full courses inspiring others to grow and farm flowers.  Then in April we appeared at RHS Cardiff where our stand won a Silver medal.  That was followed swiftly by RHS Malvern in early May where I was asked to create a floral cake for Valerie Singleton to celebrate 60 years of Blue Peter.
The pressure was on to grow beautiful flowers for RHS Chelsea as Flowers from the Farm, the co-operative of flower farmers of which I am a member, was exhibiting there for the first time and needed flowers from all over the country for the display.  It won a Gold medal and the approval of two queens - the royal one and the kitchen queen - Mary Berry.  We are now in full scale wedding mode with weddings booked until October.

Gill Hodgson, the founder of Flowers from the Farm showing the Queen the display which included flowers from our little farm.

It was a beautiful display with full size straw horse pulling a cart full of British flowers

Valerie Singleton was delightful to meet.  I escorted her around the schools gardens and she stopped and spoke to as many children as she could.  It was mostly the parents and teachers who were thrilled however - the children had no idea who she was.

We held our first 'arrange your own wedding flowers' workshop in May and it was a great success.  There is another opportunity to participate on June 21st - a few spaces left so book now.  Information on www.farhillflowers.co.uk.

Don't forget our Open Day is being held at the end of British Flowers Week on June 24th.  Come and look around our garden and cutting patch.  Pick yourself a posy of sweetly scented flowers and relax in the peace of our plot.  Tea, coffee and cakes will be for sale for you to enjoy on the terrace.  Entrance is £5, children are free
