Bill dedicated much of his life to serving the public, both as a police officer, and as West Mercia’s first PCC, but I am aware that his commitment to helping local communities extended well beyond that.

VIDEO: More visible and accessible policing. Following extensive research into three years of crime, incident and deployment data, West Mercia Police are making practical changes such as adapting shift patterns to ensure an increased number of officers are on duty late at night, and at other times when demand is highest, to provide increased visibility, reassurance and protection for the public.

VIDEO:  Independent Custody Visitors- We want you.

I'm keen to hear from people interested in volunteering as Custody Visitors in West Mercia.

Independent Custody Visitors (ICVs) make unannounced visits to police custody suites to check that the people who have been detained are being treated fairly and properly, and that the police are following all the correct rules and procedures.

West Mercia Police Officer Jon Townsend was quoted in Parliament as part of a Bill calling for tougher sentences for those who assault emergency workers.

I'm continuing to call for communities to get #BehindTheBadge whilst supporting the national #ProtectTheProtectors campaign.

Community Ambassadors:

With a visit to Mentor Link, a charity who support vulnerable children in Worcestershire, a meeting with the Fire Service, meeting Safer Neighbourhood Teams, and Community Safety Partnerships, attending local events, and visiting grant funded projects, the Community Ambassadors have a busy month out and about listening to your concerns.
