As of 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has become law. NOSTER wants to be transparent about how it processes your personal data. On the other hand, a rigid interpretation and application of this law would not only result in a significant amount of administrative work for NOSTER’s relatively small office, but would also be at odds with what is reasonable for a research school and what it aims to achieve in its field. Therefore, NOSTER will not ask express consent from you. Instead, NOSTER hereby explains how it processes your personal data.

What data do we keep?
We keep your name, e-mail address, position and institution. (We will only ask for viz. store your postal address if we have to send an invoice.)

What do we do with your data?
We use your e-mail address to send newsletters and other communiqués. When you are a junior member (PhD candidate) or a senior member (postdoc, associate professor, professor) or when you are a ReMA student registered at NOSTER, we will store these data in NOSTER’s files until two years after membership has ended, and we can mention your name, position and institution on NOSTER’s website and in all NOSTER’s publications. We will not share your e-mail address with third parties.

What if you disagree?
It is not possible to be a member of NOSTER or to be registered at NOSTER without us using your data the way we have outlined above. If you want to cancel your membership or registration at NOSTER, you can send an e-mail to NOSTER’s office (noster@ru.nl).
You can unscribe from our newsletters at any time, but if you are a member (PhD candidate, postdoc, associate professor, professor) or a ReMA student registered at NOSTER, we will still store your data in NOSTER’s files until two years after membership has ended.
