National Children's Gardening Week

Gardening is fun! The aim of National Children's Gardening Week, 26 May to 3 June, is to encourage children to get involved at an early age and enjoy themselves by growing plants.

Most children enjoy doing a spot of gardening – especially when the end result is something edible. National Children’s Gardening Week focuses on simple activities which are neither adversely affected by weather nor require complicated techniques or expensive equipment.

Here at Riverside, we are supporting National Children’s Gardening Week by…

 - Providing the opportunity for children to sow seeds to take home and plant in the garden. Look out for ‘potting bench corner’ where you can fill a coir pot with compost and choose from a selection of easy-to-grow seeds to take home and grow on.

 - Promoting a few simple and enjoyable gardening activities which children can undertake at home with a bit of help from an older person. Pick up a copy of one or more activity sheets which provide simple instructions and explain what you will need to get started.

 - Stocking a range of seeds which are perfect for children to sow and grow. Read our blog
Seeds for Children to Sow and Grow

The end of May is a great time for gardening with warm weather and long hours of daylight to get seeds going and give plants a boost. Success may not be guaranteed, but having fun is!

Happy to help.

If you have any questions at all then please feel free to contact us, we'd love to hear from you!
