Tasting Today- Cair Crianza Ribera Del Duero

Today's wine is from one of Spain's top wine producing regions Ribera Del Duero, which is two hours north of Madrid. The landscape here is depicted by rough mesas, rocky plateaus and high sunny plains. The soils are typically sandy and marl near the Duero River and limestone and clay on the slopes at higher altitude
Ribera Del Duero has been a DO (Denominación de Origen) region since 1982. It exclusively produces red wines and a few rosados- no whites here! This seems a fitting match to the legendary local dish of the region which is lechazo. This dish is baby lamb seasoned with just salt and pepper and slowly roasted over a fire in an old brick oven, served in the local asadores(rustic roast house).
Tasting Note
100% Tempranillo from vines between 40-50 years old, matured for 14 months in all new oak, a mix of French and American and aged a further 4 years in the bottle.

An opulent deep purple color with ruby hues. A bouquet of doris plums, cocoa powder and leather. On the palate dark fruits, meaty mushrooms, leather, and cedar.
