The Durban University of Technology (DUT) and France continue to enhance their strategic partnership in order to expose students to best international practices in the area of innovation, science and technology.
It is against this background that Ambassador of France to South Africa, H.E. Mr. Christophe Farnaud, will meet with the DUT Vice-Chancellor and Principal Prof Thandwa Mthembu, at Steve Biko Campus, DUT, on 05 June 2018, to formalise bilateral cooperation between France and DUT in the fields of higher education, research and the promotion of French language.
DUT BIDS FAREWELL TO REGISTRAR, PROFESSOR THENJIWE MEYIWA
It was a sad night for colleagues at the Durban University of Technology as they bid farewell to the University’s Registrar, Professor Thenjiwe Meyiwa, who announced she was leaving DUT to join UNISA to continue her love and passion for research.
DUT colleagues and family members honoured Prof Meyiwa during her farewell dinner which was held on Wednesday, 30 May 2018, at the DUT Hotel School Conference Centre.
TALKING DIGITAL REALM AND INTERPRETING OF BIG DATA
Media Monitoring and social media activism and the #fees must fall campaign was the main focus at the Media Monitoring, Big Data and Social Media engagement session which was held at The Coastlands Musgrave Hotel and Conference Centre on 28 May 2018.
In attendance were DUT staff, external stakeholders as well as key speakers, Dr Surendra Thakur-Director of the KZN e-skills CoLab, Tonya Khoury- Acumen Media, and DUT’s Master’s student Yaseen Khan.
The days of smaller study rooms, limited operational hours and limited resources at libraries are over for the Durban University of Technology (DUT) students in the Midlands campuses, as DUT has completed a new state of the art library at Indumiso Campus and a major revamp at the Riverside Campus library.
The Conduit visited both libraries and spoke to the exultant DUT Subject Librarian, Lindiwe Gumede based at Indumiso Campus library, and she could not contain her excitement about the new establishments.
MDLETSHE MENTORS CONTESTANTS ON BET’S MADE IN AFRICA
Known for her bubbly personality and chic style, Fashion and Textiles lecturer at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), Fezile Mdletshe will be one of the mentors on BET Africa’s brand new local reality show, Made In Africa.
The show which premieres tonight at 21:00 on BET (DStv 129) aims to showcase the best of emerging designers on the continent, while keeping an eye on the fashion revolution that has taken the whole continent by storm.
