Celebrate Barrie this weekend!

Come out to Centennial Park along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay this Saturday, June 2 to experience live music, a heritage village, family fun zone, local vendor marketplace, outdoor film, and much more! This year, the 29th annual Barrie Native Friendship Centre Pow Wow, June 2 and 3 at Red Storey Field, is being held in partnership with Celebrate Barrie.

June is Recreation & Parks Month

We want you to "PlayON" in celebration of June is Recreation & Parks Month (JRPM)! It’s the perfect time to get out and enjoy the variety of activities available in Barrie’s parks, along the beautiful waterfront, and at our recreation centres! Share how you get active in Barrie using #BarrieJRPM on social media. For details and inspiration to help you "PlayON" visit barrie.ca/dropins.

We’re preparing for The Road Ahead

Road construction projects starting in 2018 include the Harvie Road/Big Bay Point Crossing Over Highway 400, Mapleview Drive East improvements, Henry Street reconstruction and more. Design work for the extension of Bryne Drive, Dunlop Street East improvements, Bell Farm Road ROW Expansion and more is also underway. For the complete list of projects visit barrie.ca/RoadAhead.

Items will be saved from the landfill on June 9

The annual Free Goods Exchange Day (FGED) takes place next Saturday, June 9. FGED encourages residents to place their unwanted but usable items curbside for others to pick up at leisure; it’s like a garage sale, but without the money or hassle! Posters are available to print and display, and using #BarrieFGED helps spread the word online.

There is no municipal collection for items that don’t find a new home; they must be taken back in by 9pm.

Reminder: waterfront parking in Barrie

Barrie residents require a Resident Parking Pass to park for free at specific waterfront areas. Within these areas, non-residents are charged $3/hour with a daily max of $15 (enforced 24/7/365). The Spirit Catcher, North Marina, Marina, and Lakeshore lots include paid parking for all residents and non-residents, enforced 24/7 at the downtown parking rate. Full details and FAQs.
