School Year 2018-2019 OST RFPs!
The United Way of the National Capital Area released two Requests for Proposals from the Office for the Deputy Mayor in support of School Year 2018-2019 Out of School time programming. DC Action for Children and the DC Alliance of Youth Advocates have partnered together to release the DC Votes for Children and Youth 2018 Election Advocacy Guide. Developed with input and guidance from the DC Youth Mayoral Forum Leadership Team and the Young Women’s Project, the guide will empower DC residents of all ages—registered voters and residents who cannot vote— to effectively engage candidates on key issues affecting DC children and youth today.

Youth Related Legislation
On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, the Committee on the Judiciary & Public Safety will hold a Public Hearing on the following Legislation:
- Bill 22-0778, the "Youth Vote Amendment Act of 2018"
The Committee invites the public to testify or to submit written testimony. Anyone wishing to testify at the hearing should contact the Committee via email at judiciary@dccouncil.us or at (202)724-7808, and provide their name, telephone number, organizational affiliation, and title (if any), by close of business Friday, June 22. Representatives of organizations will be allowed a maximum of five minutes for oral testimony, and individuals will be allowed a maximum of three minutes. Witnesses should bring twenty double-sided copies of their written testimony and, if possible, also submit a copy of their testimony electronically in advance to judiciary@dccouncil.us.

Teens, Social Media & Technology 2018
"Until recently, Facebook had dominated the social media landscape among America’s youth – but it is no longer the most popular online platform among teens, according to a new Pew Research Center survey. Today, roughly half (51%) of U.S. teens ages 13 to 17 say they use Facebook, notably lower than the shares who use YouTube, Instagram or Snapchat."
