Cars & Motorcycles of England

June 2

ATTENTION!!! The call was just made at noon on Friday THE SHOW IS ON FOR SATURDAY!  The Delaware Valley Triumphs and Delaware Valley Jaguar Club are pleased to announce that the Cars and Motorcycles of England show held on the first Saturday of June is returning to Hope Lodge in Fort Washington on June 2, 2018.  We have received quite a bit of positive feedback since this announcement of our return to the beautiful lawn at Hope Lodge in Fort Washington and we anticipate a large turnout this year. The Friends of Hope Lodge will also be hosting a beer tasting event with a live band which will be a nice addition to our show.
Calling all British Cars! The Delaware Valley Jaguar Club brings in about 75 Jaguars and the Delaware Valley Triumph's "Cars and Motorcycles of England" usually draws about 150 multi-marque British cars which includes AC, Aston Martin, Austin Healey, Morgan, Lotus, MG, Jaguar, Elva, Daimler, Triumph, TVR, Riley, Sunbeam, Bentley and Rolls-Royce and more British bikes! The DVJC and DVT will again join together to present two shows in one day, making this the largest British car show in the Philadelphia area. 2018 Morgan - Triumph Challenge

June 16 – 17

The Morgan - Triumph Challenge is loosely modeled after the legendary Mille Miglia (1000 miles) held in Italy. Since the late '90s the Morgan Owners of Philadelphia (M.O.P.s.) has run the “Moggie Miglia” seven times. In 2005 the Delaware Valley Triumph club joined in the fun and the 2005 Morgan-Triumph Challenge was born, and was won by the DVT! Now after 13 years, we are once again dusting off these fine vintage English Motorcars and M.O.P.S wants revenge!

There will be five stages of friendly competition with a relaxed drive through the scenic countryside of Bucks County. No rally experience reguired! Join us on June 16th and 17th as we drive 100 miles from Carversville, PA to the Stroudsmoor Country Inn. AS OF TODAY, WE HAVE JUST A COUPLE OF PLACES OPEN IF YOU WANT TO JOIN IN THE FUN?. For more information on the 2018 Morgan - Triumph Challenge and call Dave Hutchison at 215.527.1409 or Shelley Menkowitz at 215.872.0147 and visit www.dvtr.org. Click for downloadable flyer.

Motorcars Ready for Spring Driving!

This Florida Green 1966  Austin Healey 3000 was purchased by our client recently and was transported in from a classic car dealer on Long Island.  After a full evaluation we brought to light some repairs that were overlooked. We have made metal repairs to the frame, re-aligned windows, installed new door latches, fitted new safety belts and soon this "Big Healey" will be on the road!
This 1960 SII Lotus Elite is looking for a new garage. Shown here with the current owner at the shop, we have now completed a full evaluation and identified some deferred maintenance. We are making some repairs at this time and this Elite will be back on the road soon. If you have never driven a Lotus Elite, get in touch soon, as they truly are spirited little cars!
This  Opalescent Silver Blue 1964 Jaguar E-Type OTS came from a west coast dealer and our client brought it to R&R for some maintenance and freshening. We re-cored the radiator, rebuilt the brakes, fitted new carpets and made a paint repair on the bonnet. It runs well, looks great and is all ready for a wedding next week!

Ragtops & Roadster Spring Open House

by: Dave Hutchison

We were fortunate to have a clear day for our 24th Annual Spring Open House as over 300 fellow sports car enthusiast stopped by for a visit. The street in front of our shop was packed end to end with sports cars! Members from the local Aston Martin, Triumph, MG, Austin Healey, Lotus and Morgan clubs stopped by to enjoy our famous scones and to get a tour of the shop to see our 'works in progress'. Even a couple of Alfa Romeo owners attended, most notable was this 1974 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1600 with the police-issue Berlina engine that was used in Rome in the 70s.

The Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals

by: Mike Engard

Ragtops has been attending Carlisle for many years and we’re always surprised by the variety of vehicles that show up. There’s always plenty of British cars as well as other European makes like Saab, Citroen and Opel. There is also a large number of Asian Imports which contributes to a much younger crowd than we see at many other events. Among their interests was the ‘burn-out contest’; an extravagant display of power and smoke. This Landie has been around the world and is all ready for wilderness camping. As always Bathfitters was there with their mobile display trailer!

The polished aluminum-bodied TR-2 and the Jaguar XJ pick-up were also unique attention-getters.
Inside was the Featured Vehicle Display: Legends of Design with Aston Martins & Jaguars. There were several beautiful cars and a lively roundtable discussion about the design of each of these outstanding marques. This feature was the brainchild of Joseph Limongelli who brought along his custom gold XK 120.
Ragtops & Roadsters is here to help out this spring and the upcoming 2018 driving season. Maybe it's time to take care of the deferred maintenance, restoration, preservation, and upgrade needs that are on your car's "to do" list? Click here to send an e-mail to dave@ragtops.com or call us 215-257-1202 to schedule an appointment. We are now scheduling appointments in late June and July, so it's not too soon to plan for repair or restoration work to drive this year! Click to see our updated Works In Progress page on our website.

We have recently listed more of our client's British cars looking for new homes. Click on our For Sale page to see current listings. Click here to see more pictures of this very well maintained 1969 S4 Lotus Elan looking for a new garage. Have room?
Happy Motoring!
