Hello dear Seeders!

I hope you had a great month of May, that you planted flowers on your balcony and had a conversation with your fruit and vegetable seller.

This month in Senegal, I discovered the Niayes area, a huge market gardening area, and the Casamance, a narrow strip of land located between Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. The people in Casamance are known for their strong link to the earth and their animist traditions... this was quite an experience! My trip also led me to the seacoast near Mbour, and the Pink Lake, where I played the tourist for a little while.

DIVE INTO THE SEED TOUR

To account for the Senegalese chapter of the Seed Tour, I decided to sort my findings and materials under different big topics. While I am finalizing the large-scale contents, you can pick audio foretastes here:

- Sit on a cab and listen to the radio on the day the Senegalese Parliament voted changes to electoral laws

- Spend an evening with the Baye Fall community in Mbacké Kadior

These new Seed Dive sessions and the elder ones are available here: https://seedtour.org/seed-dive/.

SEED WITH US

This section is new!

Seed With Us is a section where you can contribute to the Seed Tour. How? By telling us about all of the inspiring seed initiatives you discover on your own trips.

This month, Elyssa (thank you, Elyssa!) is sharing her personal report on the cactus seed conservatory of Graaff Reinet, in South Africa: https://seedtour.org/seed-with-us/

To contribute and share an initiative, all you have to do is send a picture and a small description text to auriane@seedtour.org. Ready, steady, sow!

THE SEED TOUR IS LOOKING FOR ITS VAN

The French chapter of the Seed Tour will be happening between July and September. What better way than a van to explore the French countryside?

You might envision something like that:

All I actually need is a small vehicle where I could put a mattress and something to cook on, as I am only intending to drive a few hundred kilometers during those three months.

So in the end the Seed Tour Van might look closer to something like this:

If you happen to know someone, who knows someone who would like to sell this type of vehicle, anywhere in France... please get in touch! I am also interested in any tips you might have on this specific matter! Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Have a great Month of June! Right now, I am in the North of Senegal, where I am intending to visit Guédé-Chantiers, the first ecological village of the country, and Saint-Louis. I will then come back to France and welcome our trainee for a week, Adélie, who will help us agregate the data collected up to now.

Don’t forget to spread the seeds, and see you soon for more seed-related news!

Auriane
