TIPS

Student Run Stalls
National Fete Research Project   What Is The Biggest Money Earner?
The biggest money earner at school fetes might come as a surprise, with the humble barbeque beating out amusement rides, raffles, auctions, and cake stalls to rake in the most fundraising dollars, according to research by QUT’s Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies.
This report provides key tips from fete organisers, to help improve the running of a fete and boost profits. These include:
1. Start early – a year out if possible, straight after the previous fete.
2. Use online signup for volunteers – this will help with recruitment.
3. Prioritise safety – have someone responsible for Occupational Health and Safety matters.
4. Hire a portable ATM – more cash means more sales.
5. Have a wet weather plan – especially for the rides.

Do You Know What Factors Determine A Child's Consumption Of Vegetables and Fruit?

Have you heard about the Irish Rugby Football Union's (IRFU)'Silent Sidelines' campaign?
IRFU holds a Silent Sideline day every month at all junior games. Parents are asked not to talk to the children as they are playing - you can clap of course, but you can't coach or yell at players from the sideline.
Coaches are allowed to praise their players, but no coaching is allowed! This enables kids to talk to each other, play the game the way they want to play and enjoy listening to their team-mates.
A fun way that the IRFU encourages participation in Silent Sidelines is to provide every parent with a lollipop - this keeps their mouths busy doing something other than yelling!
Is this fun idea something that might work at your club?

Do Your Young Children Need More Exercise?
A UWA study, the largest of its kind globally, examined physical activity in children aged between two and five years old, has found 66% of children are not getting the nationally recommended three hours of daily physical activity needed for growth and development.

BOOST DONATIONS TO YOUR CLUB THIS EOFY!

The countdown to the end of financial year is now moving fast with June 30 just around the corner.
Typically, the month of June is the time where many community donors and philanthropists make their donations to the sports programs they support. Because from July 1, they will be able to lodge a tax receipt for their donations as part of their 2017-18 Tax Return.
Last year, one third of all financial year sports donations to the Sports Foundation were made in June, so now is the time to get active and remind your supporters of the need for donations to support your club project. Tune in to these
webinars for all the best advice on your fundraising!
Also remember that donations are not limited to money. Donations of sports goods, equipment, memorabilia and historical items are all accepted.
And the same applies to athletes who have individual fundraising projects with the Sports Foundation. Think ahead about what gear is needed, how much travel you intend to undertake, and the budget required over the next 12 months to ensure that you can reach your athletic potential.
