Britten's War Requiem

Dear Friends
Saturday 9th June, the day of our ground breaking visit to Winchester, is approaching fast. This is a very rare opportunity to experience what is arguably Benjamin Britten’s finest work, his War Requiem, in the magnificent surroundings of one of this country’s oldest cathedrals. With our partners the Burford Singers, the Bristol Cathedral choir and the full forces of the fully professional English Arts Orchestra, we will be commemorating the lives of those who fell or who were irreparably injured by the terror of the First World War.
Our thanks to you if you have already booked your tickets, but it is still not too late to consider travelling to Winchester on 9th June. Tickets cost £35, £28 and £20 with student tickets priced at £8 and a carer ticket for a disabled person free of charge.  Buy your tickets through our website or by phoning our ticket officer on 01737 762097.  A coach has been arranged from Wray Common School. Full details of this are also available through this link on the website.
We of course realise that for some this date or the Tewkesbury Abbey performance will be impossible.  But as loyal followers of the Chorale, you may still wish to be part of the performance by sponsoring in a small way the costs of the enormous orchestra.  The percussion instruments alone cost over £1,000 to hire!  You could support us either though our ‘Sponsor a Player’ scheme or simply by making a donation.  Either way, we give you our grateful thanks for helping us in making this historic event in the Chorale’s history become a reality.  Our thanks too for your continued interest and support in our performing programme.
Looking beyond the War Requiem, we can’t wait to welcome world-famous trumpet virtuoso Crispian Steele-Perkins who joins us for our end-of-season celebration concert at St Mary’s Reigate on Saturday 14th July. Tickets for that are also available now as above.
