PHNEE Work Groups - Get Involved!

We are committed to working towards equitable educational opportunities for all kids in Park Hill. We believe there is great work to be done to provide all kids with the opportunities and resources they need to thrive. The schools in our neighborhood are doing amazing things, and we want to leverage the commitment within our community to equity, as well as the the many gifts that our community members have to help all of our schools meet the unique challenges they are each facing. To that end, we would like to invite you to an informational meeting about PHNEE and the work groups that will be pursing greater equity, to see if you'd like to get involved.

On June 6th, from 5:30pm - 8:30pm, at the Park Hill Collective Impact offices, 3475 Holly St., we will gather to discuss the origins of PHNEE, and the vision for our work going forward. There will be an opportunity to join one of our work groups and give feedback on the scope and direction of those groups.

1 - Community Engagement:
This group will focus on building awareness around issues of equity in our schools, and deepening our connections to the community. The group will develop and implement a variety of inclusive activities designed to increase engagement of the entire neighborhood in this work.

2 - Communications:
This group will focus on raising awareness around school equity and driving the conversation in the neighborhood and throughout the Denver education community. This might include writing articles, finding content to promote though our existing channels, finding additional outlets to raise our voice. The topics will be coordinated with the community engagement work group.

3 - Committee Recruitment:
This group will focus on bringing under-represented voices to the table to inform and engage in our work. One of our primary goals is to create the space for authentic community engagement and dialogue. This might involve attending community meetings, visiting schools, hosting focus groups, etc.

4 - Policy Recommendations:
This group will begin the work of developing recommendations for the future of Park HIll's elementary schools. This will include examining current enrollment data and projections, studying existing and new school models, reaching out to stakeholders for input and direction, and other activities.

5 - Park Hill Schools Resources:
This group will explore the feasibility of a shared pool of money to be equitably distributed among the schools in Park Hill, as well as ways to more effectively share the existing non-financial resources. This will include identifying existing resources, as well as methods for sharing, with a focus on equity.
