The results are in! Pete Pinnell covered a lot of information in three days this summer. As you can see from the image, there were a few results. Actually 800+ glaze test were preformed. The kiln unloading was like being in a candy store. Though the 2018 workshops have wrapped up you can see our line-up at: http://archiebray.org/workshops_classes/workshops_classes.html

"The Yixing Effect" by Marvin Sweet is on sale for $25, a $45 value. Ten available, get them while they last.

Many artists--and lovers of the arts--believe that artistic perfection can be found in any time period and within any culture. American ceramic artists are particularly adventurous, continually exploring the vast heritage of ceramic art. With this insightful and beautiful book, "The Yixing Effect: Echoes of the Chinese Scholar", Marvin Sweet reveals how the Yixing teapot has captured the imagination of contemporary ceramic artists and why it has become a compelling source of inspiration.

"Potters' Skin Butter is made for the very driest hands. You need a lotion that soaks in in seconds, not minutes, one that smells good but doesn't have artificial fragrances, one that quenches your skin, leaving it soft for hours. So you can get back to your life. That's why we make Potters' Skin Butter." states Cara Mae, owner of Potters' Skin Butter.

Plainsman Clays
More user-friendly . . . better plasticity . . . what’s not to like for the ceramic artist?!

We are very excited to announce that later this year, the Archie Bray Clay Business will begin offering a wider selection of wet clays from Plainsman Clay in Alberta, Canada.

First, for many years now, we have been manufacturing the dry mix of Plainsman’s M-340 and M-390 into wet clay for sale here at the Clay Business—starting this fall however, we will begin importing directly and selling these as wet clays. This will be the same product you’re use to using in the studio, as only the site of manufacture is changing.

Second, we are also working to bring you more user-friendly low-fire white clays by replacing our Eric’s and Sculpture Lowfire (SL) clays with two offerings from the Plainsman lineup (more details to follow as we pin down the details!).

Presently, we are in the process of testing some Plainsman’s clays in house and will keep you posted as we make this exciting transition in our selection of clays. If you have any questions, please contact us at 406-442-2521.

Still! Free Materials
The Clay Business is making room in the warehouse and giving away some Tile 6 Kaolin and Ball Clay. The materials have a slight imperfection containing iron and chunks of feldspar in them which make them unusable for our production products. The chunks can be screened out and used for making glazes, slips and clays. These are also great for adobe building, natural earth plaster walls, and hay bale construction.

It's free, all you have to do is pick it up or pay for shipping. If interested contact us at 406/442-2521
