The use of mobile apps is foreseen to continue to increase in small businesses.

TIPS & TRICKS

MILLENNIALS TAKING THE INITIATIVE TO CODE

Computer programming might have decreased in demand, but coding skills are still required in key industries today. The good thing about coding is that it’s a skill which can be self-taught. The younger generation is already acquiring coding skills in their own time, since most schools haven’t made it a core subject in academia. Self-learning yourself coding is simple, just focus on a specific coding language, keep practicing and you’re ready to go. As a subject that is self-taught, it is also important to introduce this subject into the academic system to encourage a wider young generation to learn.

PARENTS, DON’T BAN THE MILLENNIALS, GET INVOLVED

All generations of parents are in pursuit of raising their kids in a healthy and happy environment. With rising news on cyberbullying and internet scams, parents are the main actors who can provide the younger generation with appropriate guidance. With the launch of a new app, Singtel, a communications specialist in Asia, explores the necessary parental actions. Taking authority is not the only way to execute, parents should also consider engaging in cyber activities and monitoring their time online, giving them a certain level of autonomy. Parenting is changing along with the constant evolution of technology.

CYBERBULLYING CONTINUES TO PUSH YOUNG ONES TO THE EDGE

Since the development of the internet, the issue of cyberbullying among young users continues to intensify. Influential social networks are failing to protect young users from online harassment. Social media has successfully made information easily accessible and transparent for the generation, but it is also camouflaging the menacing activities which should be monitored. Frequent internet users are more likely to have psychological disorders, such as anxiety and depression. Cyberbullying is difficult to tackle because it cannot be physically seen. However, it is doing as much harm as a physical bully, pushing young users to the edge of suicide.

Social media firms are collaborating with cyber experts to ensure a more positive experience for young users. Their aims are universal, to provide a safer environment for users, especially the young ones.
