Dear Members and Friends,

It's been a huge start to the year and we can't believe how quickly time has flown by.

We launched our 2018 program with our 'Celebrating Women in the Judiciary' event and were delighted to have the Honourable Justice Virginia Bell as our keynote speaker.

Since then, we have:

Please visit our Photo Gallery for some highlights and don't forget to visit our website regularly to stay up to date with all the great events and initiatives we have in store.  Of immediate interest to you may be our 'Closing the Gender Pay Gap: Arming Women with the Tools to Negotiate their Pay, Conditions and Employment Contracts' event hosted by Maurice Blackburn Lawyers on 7 June 2018.  We note also that Early Bird Registration closes on Friday 15 June 2018 for the 7th National Australian Women Lawyers Conference 24-26 August 2018 at the Sofitel Wentworth 'Investing in the Future', so book now to take advantage of great networking opportunities and a fabulous line up of speakers and topics.

Finally, we are finalizing our new look website and are now offering auto renewal options for your membership.  Among other things, membership gives you voting rights, discounted ticket prices to our events, enables you to join our subcommittees and stand for election onto our Executive Committee.  We therefore strongly encourage you to become an advocate and change maker for women in law by becoming a member if you are not already.  2019 Membership is open as of 1 May and valid until 30 June 2019, so join or renew your membership today.

We look forward to seeing you at an event soon.

Starring: Bill Nighy, Emily Mortimer, Patricia Clarkson
Synopsis: Based on Penelope Fitzgerald’s novel of the same name; The Bookshop is set in 1959. Florence Green (Emily Mortimer), a free-spirited widow, risks everything to open up a bookshop – the first such shop in the sleepy seaside town of Hardborough, England. Fighting damp, cold and considerable local apathy she struggles to establish herself, but soon her fortunes change for the better. By exposing the local townsfolk to the best literature of the day, she opens their eyes. Her activities bring her a kindred spirit in the figure of Mr. Brundish (Bill Nighy) who is himself sick of the town’s stale atmosphere. But this mini social revolution soon brings her fierce enemies, beginning a struggle not just for the bookshop but for the very heart and soul of the town.
