June 4
Stop by for some coffee, a doughnut and casual conversation.  We are nearing the end of the 2017-18 school year and it is a good time to reflect on what has worked well, and what may need some improvement in the new school year.

Dear Lafayette Volunteers,

Join us June 5th at 1:45-2:30 pm in the cafeteria. If you volunteered this year for the school, in the classroom, events, on the playground or in the background, the entire staff of Lafayette Elementary would like to say a big THANK YOU for all of your efforts to support the school.  There will be snacks, refreshments and student performances.

With Gratitude,

Last Day of Book Fair (library)
Keep the reading momentum going this summer!  Here are the different ways you can buy books from the Book Fair:
  1. Visit our library (during lunch recess (10:40 am - 12:10 pm), not open after school.
  2. Order Online.  Enjoy a larger, expanded selection when you shop online (online orders delivered to the school before the year ends).
  3. Clip & Send the Newspaper Flyer Order Form from the interactive Book Flyer (remember to add 10.1% sales tax).  Checks are accepted anytime and can be made payable to the Lafayette PTA.
All purchases benefit the school - helping to buy books for the library and classrooms.

Box Top Collection No. 3.  Did you know that since joining the Box Tops program, we have earned $9,513.91.  Those little pink coupons really add up so let's make it count - this is our last collection of the year!

Have 5 minutes?  June 8 is the deadline to submit your response to the Office of Superintendent Public Instruction survey.  Do you want to make your voice heard in public K-12 education?  Let OSPI know what your education priorities are!  You have a chance to influence OSPI’s budget requests to the governor and legislature.  OSPI plans to release a second survey in mid-summer that will provide you with an opportunity to prioritize budget request items that emerge from this survey.  Help OSPI develop a budget that moves public schools from “basic” funding toward a system better designed to meet the needs of all learners.

We raised $2,010 from our dine-out fundraising.  These PTA dine-out fundraising events allow us to partner with local restaurants who support our school.  THANK YOU to parent volunteer Monica Smith for coordinating these dine-out events and to all of our families who help support Lafayette and our West Seattle businesses!
