Hi <<First Name>>,

Welcome to the May edition of Engage - your first email from us post the GDPR deadline!

You're probably a bit fed up with all the hype (and email deluge) around GDPR...but it's really important.  Hopefully you've received two emails from us on all things GDPR. The first one explained that we've updated our Privacy Policy on the website and introduced a new Members' Privacy Notice. Both set out to explain what data we hold on you, why we have it and what we do with it. The second was around some of our marketing activity and asking you to opt in to continue receiving our communications.

You may be wondering why we can send Engage but not our other news letters. Well, this email is centred around updating you on rules, competing with us, our events, championships and series, things that you'll need to take part in dressage. The others aren't vital to help you to do that so we need your okay to send them. If you haven't updated your preferences and opted in yet, you can by clicking below or at the footer of this email. Plus, our amazing team of partners, sponsors and suppliers want to offer you some great discounts, promotions and competitions - so you don't miss out, you'll need to opt in to receive third parties. Rest assured, we'll never sell your data or pass it on without your permission.

BD Staff update
We've had a few new starters and promotions in the team at Meriden so here's a few introductions. Di Harvey (top) and Nicki Raybould (bottom) have joined the Senior Management Team as Head of Sport Operations and Commercial Manager respectively, bringing it up to full strength.  Congratulations are due to Natasha Pearce and Chloe French who are now Officers while Jennifer Stringer joins BD in a new role, Youth Development Officer. The busy teams in Membership and Sports Operations have been joined by Hollie Hookway (Membership Assistant), Katie Witts (Sports Operations Assistant) and Stephanie Verge (Grading Assistant). Find out more here.

Sadly, Head of Business Operations Sue Harrison has decided to step down after 12 years with BD at the end of July so we're now recruiting a new Regional and Volunteer Manager. You can find out more about the role and how to apply here.
Regional venues 2019 - 2021
Those who like to plan ahead will be excited to read the list of venues selected to host Winter and Summer Regionals from 2019 up until 2021.  We're grateful to the 34 venues who applied to be considered - with only eight in each season, it's always hard when we some have to miss out.  Huge thanks also the venues who've been great hosts in the last three year cycle.
Peter Storr, Andrew Gardner and Sandy Phillips have been confirmed as the hosts for this year's Principles of Judging Seminar, which will be held at Moulton College in Northants on the 6 - 7 October. This is an essential day for judges, riders, coaches and owners looking to improve their skills and gain an invaluable insight into the world of judging. All judges and non-judges can take advantage of an early bird offer to buy tickets at a discounted rate of before 1 June - read more here.
Committee updates
As promised at the Members' Meeting in November, we're publishing the Executive Summaries from all our Board and Technical Committee meetings.  Each synopsis gives an overview of what was discussed at the meeting, decisions made and actions to be made.  Most committees have met twice this year so there's plenty to catch up on.

They're on the hunt for combinations who've competed in or are hoping to compete in the Associated Championships. Whether you ride a retrained racehorse, awesome Arab, powerful PRE or delightful draught horse we want to hear from you!

Have your turn in the spotlight and send your stories to camille.peters@britishdressage.co.uk for the chance to be feature. And please keep an eye on the BD Facebook page where we'll let you know as soon as the Associated Championships event pages go live.

How's qualification going?
Not long now until 17 June and the end of qualifying for the eight Summer Regional Championships and the inaugural Summer Music Championships at Bury Farm, 24 - 27 August. We hope you're keeping an eye on your competition record and the leaderboards to see how you're doing - qualification emails will be sent shortly after the deadline.
Board elections 2018
The deadline for nominations for Business Development Director on the BD Board has been extended to 21 June. The volunteer role will represent the areas of commercial, membership, marketing, PR and communications at Board level and will help to drive these vital areas with the in-house teams at Meriden. For more information and the nomination process - click here

Without volunteers, dressage could not function as a sport.

Each month we announce our Nirvana Spa Volunteer of the Month, who receives a certificate and trophy plus more! But we can't do this without your help!

Is there someone you'd like to thank, perhaps a steward for helping to settle your competition nerves, or someone who has helped you get to the arena on time? Have your say and email us today
