De plasticvrije week loopt alweer ten einde, maar wat een gave week was dit! We hebben ervaren hoeveel studenten en werknemers serieus bezig zijn met duurzaamheid en het milieu, en dat doet ons goed. In deze nieuwsbrief besteden we dan ook veel aandacht aan allerlei mogelijkheden waarop jij je in kunt zetten en meer kunt leren over duurzaamheid. Bedankt voor jullie inzet en hopelijk tot op één van onze volgende evenementen!

Aankondiging:
Vacatures

Wil jij bijdragen aan het verduurzamen van de RUG? Kom werken bij de Green Office! Per 1 september zoeken we drie nieuwe student-assistenten. Kijk op onze website voor meer informatie over de functies.

Hergebruik Meubilair:

Met alle verbouwingen binnen de RUG willen wij voorkomen dat oud meubilair gedumpt en verbrand wordt. Samen met Stiching Werken Met Zorg hebben we gewerkt aan een oplossing. Lees hier wat we gedaan hebben!

Eigen evenementen:
Green Growth

In september start de tweede editie van onze cursus Green Growth! Docenten en professionals uit het werkveld komen langs om je te inspireren met verhalen over duurzaamheid. Interesse of meer info nodig? Check deze link!

Duurzaamheid op de RUG:
Summerschool: Creating a Climate for Change

Heb je in juli nog niks te doen en wil je meer leren over duurzaamheid in een internationale context? Misschien is de duurzame Summerschool van de RUG dan wat voor jou!

Ambassadors:
Cowspiracy Filmavond

Op donderdag 7 juni organiseert onze Filosofie Ambassade een filmavond over de documentaire Cowspiracy. Schuif aan, kijk mee en ga het debat aan met anderen! Voor meer informatie, klik hier.

Sustainable tip:

Plastic-vrije week. Koop schoonmaakproducten die in karton zijn verpakt. Klok en Sonett verkopen schoonmaakproducten die in karton zijn verpakt. Seepje verkoopt natuurlijk afbreekbare schillen om je was mee te doen.

Mugshot Plastic-vrije Week

De Plasticvrije week is in volle gang! Wat kan jij doen om je plastic gebruik te verminderen? Vaak zit er aan de binnenkant van een wegwerpbeker een plastic laagje, dus neem je eigen koffie beker of mok mee! Laat ons weten of jij er al een hebt met een foto via Instagram of Facebook of stuur het naar greenoffice@rug.nl!

Duurzaamheid aan de RUG:
Deelfietsen

Vanaf deze maand kunnen RUG-medewerkers een knalrode Campusbike gebruiken om locaties in en rond de stad te bezoeken. Hoe het werkt lees je hier.

Food tip:

"Koop je groente en fruit op de Vismarkt, perfect als je deze week je plasticgebruik wilt verminderen, en bovendien vaak goedkoper dan de supermarkt!"

Duurzame Blog:
Wie betaalt voor organische producten?

Ons derde blog staat in het teken van duurzaam eten, een thema dat een steeds grotere rol speelt in onze samenleving.. Assistent professor Jenny van Doorn en professor Peter Verhoef deden onderzoek naar wie organische producten kopen: zijn ze jong/oud, man/vrouw, gezin/alleenstaand? Lees over hun onderzoek en bevindingen in ons blog!

Als je zelf een interessante ervaring met duurzaamheid hebt, schrijf er dan een kort verhaal over en stuur het naar ons!

The plastic-free week is running towards it end, but what a week this was! We've experienced first-hand how many students and employees are putting effort into sustainability and the environment, and that's a great experience! In this newsletter we're giving attention to more events in which you can learn about and contribute to sustainability at the RUG. Thanks for your contributions over the last week and hopefully we'll meet at one of our next events!

With all the renovations at the University of Groningen, we want to prevent old furniture from being thrown away. That's why we're collaborating with the 'Werken met Zorg' foundation towards a solution. Read here what we've done!

Still looking for things to do in July and what to learn more about sustainability in an international context? Maybe the sustainability summerschool of the UG might interest you!

Sustainable tip:

Plastic-free week. “Buy your cleaning supplies packaged in carton. Klok and Sonett sell cleaning products in carton. Seepje sells shells from the soap nut to do your laundry with. In some stores you can buy Ecover cleaning supplies on tap, so you can bring your own container.”

The Plastic Free Week is in full sway! What can you do to lower your plastic consumption? Usually disposable cups have an inner plastic layer, so take your own coffee cup or mug! Let us know whether you already use your own reusable cup with a photo, share on Instagram or Facebook or send us a message!

Sustainability at the UG:
Campusbikes

Since last month, UG employees can borrow and use one of the University's bright red Campusbikes to visit various locations within and around the city. Read here how you can get your hands on one!

Food tip:

"Buy your groceries at the Vismarkt, especially your fruit and vegetables. Perfect if you want to reduce your plastic consumption and usually cheaper than the supermarket!"

Our third blog is all about sustainable food, a theme that is quickly gaining ground in society. Associate-professor Jenny van Doorn and professor Peter Verhoef investigated what the characteristics are of people that buy organic food: are they young/old, man/woman, families/single households? Read about their research and findings in our blog!
