We've All Lost a Friend...

Dear WICX Listeners,

With great sadness must share with you all that Robert "Bob" Jursik passed away last week.

Bob was an active member with the Knight of Columbus, the Concord Coachmen and passionately supported a number of political candidates. He was also Vice President of New Hampshire Catholic Community Radio. Without Bob, we might not have a Catholic Radio Station.

NH State law dictates that a non-profit must have at least 5 (unrelated by blood or marriage) people on the Board of Directors. In 2009 I began in earnest to bring Catholic Radio to NH, I invited a number of women and men to become members of the Board of Directors.  For various reasons, I had accumulated a long list of "No thank yous". In part due to personal situations, in part because I had nothing but a crazy idea.

I was ready to hand the whole project back to God and say "Thank you, God, but you didn't give me the people I needed. Here." Then one friend suggested I call Bob. I had never met or heard of him before.

The initial phone call was a shot to the spirit - Bob was positive, up beat, helpful and ready to assist in any way to bring the station to fruition. He readily accepted the Directorship. As always, God provides.  With renewed vigor I search further and quickly thereafter God brought us to all the Good and Faithful people we needed to form the original Board of Directors.

Bob, of course, went on to help build the station sharing his deep bass voice and fundraising skills, bringing WICX to fruition and helping to keep it on the air for the past 3 years.

I have a favor to ask of all of you.... Bob's cousin needs some help to cover the cost of cremation. She is about $600 short. WICX Radio has set up a fund through our bank (Bar Harbor Bank & Trust). If you can help, make out a check to "NHCCR" (New Hampshire Catholic Community Radio" and in the memo add "Robert Jursik Memorial Fund" and mail it to PO Box 42, Bradford, NH 03221. We will use the Memorial funds to help cover the burial costs. Together we can say a final "Thank You" to Bob for his many years of service to the Concord community and WICX Radio.

When an obituary is available and funeral arrangements are made, I will send out a notice.

Thank you for reading this important letter. Fr. Ray Ball provided a prayer (to follow). Please join us in praying for the repose of Bob's soul.

In Christ,
Mike Bellino

Lord we give thanks for the gift of the life of Bob Jursik. For his faith, thoughtfulness, dedication, and humor. For the many ways he lived out his calling as a disciple, especially his service to our Catholic Radio station.  We give thank for him as a founding member of WICX and his service as member of our board and vice-president of the station.  We give thanks for his strong, resonant on-air voice that spoke of his love and commitment to his Catholic faith and his desire to share that good news with as many people as possible.  We give thanks for his many thoughtful, inspirational and humorous WICX Facebook posts.  We give thanks that despite the decline of his health and other challenges, he lived with grace, dignity, faith and joy. For the many ways that Bob lived and shared his life and faith, his love and service we are truly grateful.  And so we commend him to the eternal embrace of our loving and merciful God.  And may his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.     Amen.
