We have been locked in battle against the NYS Value of Distributed Energy Resources policy (nicknamed Darth VDER because it has crushed community solar projects in NYS) since early 2017.
The situation has reached the point that solar companies are about to pull up stakes and move to other states because VDER makes it impossible to build community solar projects in NY.
Late last night we had some very good news : the NYS Assembly passed Bill A.10474 to put a 3 year moratorium on “Darth VDER” and go back to net metering for all solar projects until the Public Service Commission fixes VDER.
We have a small window of opportunity TODAY on the FINAL day of the Legislative session to pass the Senate version of the bill: S.8273. We can save community solar projects, investments and jobs in NYS if we win over certain members of the NYS Senate RIGHT NOW.
Please call the NY Senators on this spreadsheet at their Albany offices ASAP. Telephone numbers are included in the spreadsheet.

PLEASE ask folks across the state who care about renewable energy and equitable access to renewables to make calls too. They can tailor a call script for the Senator in their district (or other districts if theirs is not a target Senator) by inserting data from this spreadsheet.

Feel free to paraphrase the call script template below. Use data in the spreadsheet to fill in name and amounts for each Senator you're calling.
CALL SCRIPT TEMPLATE
"The loss to our economy due to VDER is more than 1,000 jobs not created and over $800 million in lost solar investment due to cancelled projects. VDER has also deprived tens of thousands of households of lower-cost renewable energy. I ask that Senator (name) act immediately to pass Bill S.8273 to stop the VDER disaster and save soar investment and jobs. The district will suffer a loss of ($ from Column I) dollars of local investment, and (# from Column H) households in the district will be deprived of community solar if Bill S.8273 does not pass today. We need the Senator to call Senator Flanagan and say it is important to our district that this bill gets passed! Please ask them to push for this bill to be brought to a vote today use all their power to get this bill passed. Thank you!"
We thank you so much for taking action! May the Force be with you!
