Shakespeare at the Tithe Barn

On Thursday 14th June,  from 6.30pm till 7.15pm, you can see Shakespeare’s comedy ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dreamat the Tithe Barn performed by the Cambridge School of Visual & Performing arts (CSVPA).

Rachel Ellis, Head of Drama at CSVPA, says “The Tithe Barn is such a wonderful piece of history and I am thrilled at the chance of our students being able to perform in it. The students on our performing arts courses at CSVPA undertake training in both classical and contemporary acting. Their June performance is a reduced Shakespeare play especially edited for a small cast, each actor playing multiple roles. It is a lot of fun! The barn is a vital piece of local history and I feel strongly that it is a gift to be able to share the local cultural heritage of such places with our very international cohort of students. We have students from Cambridgeshire but also as far afield as China, Russia and South America on our courses. We wanted to show our full support for the Tithe Barn Trust’s campaign to restore the barn.”

Admission to all our events is free, but donations are of course very welcome towards the restoration of the Tithe Barn.

Thank you from the Tithe Barn Trust

As a small charity run entirely by volunteers, we have to say a MASSIVE thank you to all of our volunteers who make the Tithe Barn Trust. Tithe Barn Trust is a small charity and volunteer not-for profit group committed to saving the Tithe Barn, in Landbeach, for everyone to enjoy.

Over the next few months alone, volunteers will have welcomed local pre-schoolers to the Tithe Barn, written grant applications, cleaned the barn and even performed Shakespeare and a Concert at the barn. The energy and enthusiasm continues to grow as the project gathers momentum. If you would like to get involved and be a part of saving this special building, then get in touch.

We’re currently recruiting Events Volunteers to help us set up and run events and public open days. If you have a welcoming and approachable manner with a can-do attitude, then get in touch. You will have the chance to make a real difference to a friendly and supportive charity at a time of significant development. 'Old Enemies; Auld Alliances' Concert at the Tithe Barn

On Saturday 16th June from 7pm till 9pm, duo Jennifer Bastable and Robin Irvine play ‘Music for lute and voices from Scotland, England and France.’ In this concert, much of which stems from around the time at which Landbeach Tithe Barn was built, they perform music from three countries that for most of the second millenium have been locked in various alliances and wars: France, Scotland and England. With their informative introductions, Jennifer and Robin introduce audiences sometimes unfamiliar with 'early ' music to this wonderful repertoire.
