New Point-in-Time Count Resources Available

The Point-in-Time (PIT) count continues to be a critical resource for understanding homelessness nationally as well as within each CoC. In the effort to ensure the data is reliable and as accurate as possible HUD will continue to provide resources to help communities.

HUD recently initiated a PIT Count Methodology Office Hours. HUD will conduct these office hours quarterly and will open the calls with a common concern or issue and then open the call to more questions. The recording and transcript from the April office hours is now available. In this call, HUD opened with a conversation about extrapolation.

Additionally, HUD recognizes there is a need to better train staff who are new to the PIT count data collection efforts. HUD released a PIT count eLearning module that goes through the PIT Count Methodology Guide and provides information on the basics of the PIT count. HUD recommends communities review this material.
