Summer is almost here!

Summer is a great time to get back in touch with all things natural! Whether it's going for frequent walks in the park, gardening, or even trying something completely new like sprouting, which I've been experimenting with recently, as you may have seen on my Facebook page.

For those who don't have room and/or time for gardening, sprouting is a perfect option! It's fun, easy, and only takes a little time and space. Sprouts are very healthy for you, as they're full of nutrients and great to add to salads, sandwiches, wraps, etc.

Here are some tips to help you get started!
You can buy sprouting seeds at grocery stores and health stores. The fun part is that you can create a mixture of seeds - I tried red clover and broccoli together!

What you'll need:

Wide-mouth jar
Screen jar cover (any mesh, cheese cloth or plastic grid craft canvas will work)
Rubber band/jar ring

Directions:

- Put 4 tbsp. seeds in jar
- Cover jar with screen, secure with rubber band/ring
- Add water, rinse seeds (gently swirl jar), drain water
- Refill with water, just covering seeds
- Leave seeds to soak overnight, then drain
- Rinse and drain again, 2-3 times a day

Rinsing is important to keep moisture in the jar
For optimal growth, lay jar on an angle in indirect sunlight

Ready to eat in 3-4 days!

I also want to take a moment to congratulate all upcoming/recent grads, and to wish all dads a happy Father's Day (including non-biological fatherly figures)! Let's all take time to appreciate these folks and acknowledge their dedication this year!
