Welcome to the Portsmouth Cycle Forum newsletter for January 2016. In this issue we bring you news about our next meeting, our goals for 2016 and lots more.
Dear <<First Name>>,

Welcome to the June 2018 Portsmouth Cycle Forum newsletter.

               Meeting Next Week!

Our next open meeting will be on Thursday 21 June from 6.45 pm (for 7pm start).

Portsmouth Cycle Forum is a volunteer group, always looking for new people to get involved. Remember we are an independent campaign group and depend entirely on subscriptions to keep going.

As promised, we have an open meeting next week.

The meeting will take place on Thursday 21 June, starting at 7.00pm in Lecture Theatre 2 of the Richmond Building of the University of Portsmouth.  Please arrive for 6.45 so we can start on time.

We’ve invited the team from LetPompeyBreathe to talk about their campaign. This is a cross-party and cross-organisation group demanding action on reducing air pollution in Portsmouth.

Earlier this year, Portsmouth was one of the cities named and shamed as having dangerous levels of pollution. The High Court agreed the government hasn’t done enough to improve the situation.  Action needs to be taken to cut pollution levels, especially by busy roads.

This campaign is demanding Portsmouth City Council take action as soon as possible to make our city cleaner.

You can find their petition here.

Autumn Meetings

We have two meetings in the Autumn: Thursday 20 September and Thursday 15 November.

We can’t promise anything but we’re trying to book Guardian correspondent Peter Walker. He writes a regular column on cycling matters in the paper, and has written books, including Bike Nation: How Cycling Can Save the World – see link.

All Change!!

Leadership of the city council changed hands after the local elections last month. That means there is a new Cabinet member for Transport.

Councillor Lynne Stagg will be with us to talk how she will take on the challenge to make the city safer and more cycle-friendly.

And of course we'd like to thank Cllr Simon Bosher, the previous Cabinet member for transport. In his short time in office he made some fantastic commitments and improvements. Let's hope Lynne can continue and improve on his work!
